Due Date Club November 2004:Problem drinking

My daughter is not drinking any fluids these days. No formula, no water, no pedialyte. I BF her when I'm at home, since I'm staying home these days, she wants to feed from me all the time. I don't hv enough milk to feed her, still she wouldn't take bottle after she finishes bf. She won't drink from bottle even while falling asleep. I don't know what to do. On top of it she has nasal congestion, she cries so much to take bottle, it gets worse so I can't even force her. Doc says drinking is more important than eating. I tried sippy cup, different bottles, etc. Nothing is working out. I don't hv anyother person here to give her bottle. Please help me soon...

She is okay with eating that too getting picky abt the taste. With lot of effort she tries her regular cereals, eats very little. Eating and drinking both hv come down so much. Also she misses my mom n feels more insecure. I'm worried she will get dehydrated in this summer weather. I'm so worried...

you can try Organic formula that is better than similac or enfamil in taste. my son is 81/2 month old he had the same problem. he didn;t like bottle but i bought playtex NaturalShape. and it worked out. you can find that bottle in walmart. organic formula is little bit sweet. hope this will help you.
thanks

Our daughter gave us hard time when my inlaws left for india. She cried a lot. No food no nothing for 20-30 hrs straight. She used to spend more than 50% time with them when they were around.

We had taken 5 min video and re-ran it many times till she felt they were around. After 2 days of this exercise she was cool.

This happened 6 months back when Mukta was 2 months old. I dont know if it would work with 8 months old as kids get smart and difficult to fool as they grow old.

Still worth a try..

Good luck.

Hi ck,
Can understand how the kids react at times. How much attached they get to grandparents etc. Try to mix a lot of formula along with her solids, making it more semi liquid, so that it goes in that form atleast. Try juices, if she likes to drink that, atleast she won't get dehydrated. As octmom says try giving water in a bowl and she may like it. Similarly give formula also in a bowl and try out.
Hope it helps
Sumana
