Hi all,

My baby is 8 months old now.She is not gaining good wt from past 3-4 months.I started solids when she completed 6 months.She is not liking any solids.i tried rice ,oatmeal cereals, gerber fruits and vegetables, just takes 20 ounces milk that too by force.I shld sit all day with her to make it 20 ounce .Her doctor is not at all concerned abt her weight and lenght.She says baby is very very active and that is fine.Now at 8 months checkup she is 6th percentile in wt and 25th percentile in height.

Iam very much worirred with my baby.evry day i try try but there is no change in her.pls give some suggestions to increase her apetite.

Pls don't fret too much abt the weight issue....even my baby who is now 6mnths old drinks at the most 20 oz milk per day and is in the 10th percentile range....and even his ped is ok with that and told us that as long as our baby is active,not to worry too much abt it.And as Shweta suggested try adding formula to the cereal and also mix either a fruit or veggie along with it....u can also try this.....it worked for my son.....try making the cereal and formula mixture little bit thicker.....some babies prefer a thicker consistancy.....hope this helps...

I can understand how much it hurts to see our babies not eating properly.I suggest u try giving her home cooked food like dal chaval,khichdi,banana,mango other vegetables.u can also mix veggies like carrots,spinach in her khicdi and then blend them all together add a little bit of ghee,salt and turmeric while cooking for a good taste i think she will like it just try it out coz as our babies grow they try to develop taste as of ours..i hve seen my son these days is very less interested in gerber foods but he likes all this stuff.It all depends on u what u would like to do and keep a check while trying anything new whether she is allergic to it or not.I'm also giving him marie and parleji biscuits these days.I crush them and mix it with his favourite cereal(gerber)and add formula to it he likes it.u can also mix fresh fruits(mash them try banana and mango) with her cereal and then add the requisite amount of formula and give her.U will have to keep trying number of options to know what all she likes.Try this out if this works.I have also heard that here in US thay give vitamin drops if the doc is not satisfied with the babys growth u can ask ur pediac for the same if nothing works.u can also try this cut and wash spinach boil it then blend it to a puree add little bit of salt and ghee and then give it.
