Baby Club July-September 2007:Weaning

Hi all,

I was wondering when you ppl plan to completely stop BF for your kids.
Mayank wakes up a couple of times at night to feed. I give him BF. I feel tired because I dont get continuous sleep.
Any suggestions as to how to make him sleep thru the night? I give him solids before he sleeps. But still he wakes up some 4 hrs later.
Does it really hurt very hard when the baby' s got teeth? Mayank is yet to get his teeth.

Hi Renu,

I know its difficult to wake many times in the night . i' m working mother earlier i get tired bcoz suhaan wake and start crying after every two hour for BF. Actually baby at this age does not get up for hunger but its their habit. Now whenever suahaan wake up i try to hold him starts rocking. BTW suhaan has turned 8 momths old on this 21 May. i think he is the youngest on board.

bye

Renu pl join us on orkut....

Earlier I had also planned to completely stop BF by the end of May but my son is much smarter than me. He had stopped taking BF from past 1 week. From the day his teething started his interest went off toward my feed and was only one or two feed a day and that too in little qty. But now he had completely stopped and my milk formation is also very less....
Regarding Night feed... He doesn’t want anything in night. Earlier I used to wakeup and try to feed him but he said no... So no issue of night feeds with Aarush...
Regarding Mayank what Roops said I agree… One of my frd also give water instead of milk in night...
Love to mayank

Hi Renu...
we are all on the orkut community and are hardly posting anything here...why dont u join us there..

about weaning, i had initially planned to wean Yashita by end of April but i have now pushed it to end of May..
she is currently on only one feed of BF - in the morning when she wakes up..no BF in between..
she sleeps thru the night and doesnt wake up for any feeds..
the best way for you would be to give either formula or water when Mayank wakes up in the night..once he knows that he will not get BF, he will stop waking up..this is more of a want than a need..so cut it down..babies this age shud be able to sleep thru the night without any feeds..
make it very gradual..drop one feed at a time every 3-4 days or a week..once you both are ready, completely stop it..

about biting...yashita got teeth at her 6th month and she used to bite really hard, it was indeed very painful..
