If you are strong enough to see yourself operated, epidural is fine. I could not cope up with whatever was happening around me. I was not able to enjoy my baby for almost 2 days because of whatever I went through. I think I should have opted for general anesthesia .

I had my epidural and it was ok.I also had a side effect of low blood pressure but that was also handled well by medicines. if i didnt opt for epidural there wouldnt have been enough time for doctor on call to reach there as my labor beyond 4 cms/epidural was too fast.Around 45 minutes we were waiting for the doctor.without epidural that i couldnt have waited.
General anesthesia itself will be having lot of side effects.

So u have decided for elective csection on monday.Usually epidural is anesthesia of choice when the csection is a non emergency one.General anesthesia is used when csection is done as an emergency.Obviously epidural anesthesia is better than general because u will be awake but wont feel the pain. With general anesthesia u will be put to sleep and u wont be awake to witness birth of baby.
But it is also a good idea for u to talk to anesthesiologist about various choices available.
