Hi
Hope everybody is doing fine..ok..y'day we finally made it a date to finally decide babynames. If u hear the procedure we went thru u will think we are nuts..but atleast we shortened the name list.. previously, we would just think of names and talk it out and found every name i liked, my husband didn't and visa versa..so we decided to go thru certain websites individually, then write down names with priority from 1-5, then we exchangd the lists and gave our ranking for the names in the other list..and beleive me its disappointing when u love a name and ur husband does not like it (but atleast we shortened the verbal discussion of like/dislike each name(didn't skip, we tried hard to influence each other)) some name we did not want to keep it becoz it reminds one of us of someone does not give nice feeling..anyway selected the names we both had highest priorities on both sides and came up with 6-7 names of girls and boys..then again went thru the whole list and went thru each name..our minds change as we keep looking at it ..it took 2-3 hours , it was fun and tiring but we tried adding last name whole name, calling out the name, even joked if baby kicks when we call out a name means yes..(hee!)..and we both have been going thru names for past one month/3 weeks and not telling each other..when we finally got each others list we were just eager to finish it..so ended up ordering pizza y'day no time to cook...kept the print outs of each others choices..so finally now i have a feeling this is not the last time we discuss or could be ..we ended up with
girls names - vidya/aditi...
liked shruti too..not as much though as the first choice..
boys names - Dhruv/Rohan ..
second choice of Vinay/Karan..
This is the shortlisted version..i am sure my friends will give me their opinions and come with new names...hope we stick to them..but now we compare the new names with the names we have decided..so it has to surpass our likings with these names..so atleast we know it won't be too difficult.
Now if u all friends could help me with which name u like better, would confirm our choices (though looks like my husband has made up his mind.)..
Till then all the best in decision..
Thanks
Radhika.

Hi Radikha, nice way to finalize on a shortlist of baby names. Very impressive indeed. :)

I like Aditi and Rohan (I have always liked the name Rohan, so there is a bias there).

Good luck with the selection process. Since I've been doing it too, I know how tough it is to find just the right name.

Take cAre
-Avi (from the Nov board) :)

Hi Radhika

it was nice to read your experience about choosing a baby name. Its a different responsibilty in its own way. I have also started looking, but my husband is not spending time on it, he will just pick a name from my shortened list.
My picking from your list -
Boy's - Karan
Girl's - Aditi
I think we'll be able to end up on it only at the last minute, till then we'll just keep trying calling our favorite names. its a good experience though.
Thanks to all who have spent time to vote in my poll. Those who haven't, I am again pasting the links here:

Radhika it was really nice to know you guys spent the time.Me&hubby too plan to do something similar.I already have lst my busy busy hub is yet to make one then we too plan to short list.
Ok for your baby i felt Aditi very pretty&simple for a girl&Rohan for the boy is nice.My sil said americans can pronounce Rohan quite easily just FYI.Lastly say the names out aloud with your surname&select what sounds nice with it.Ok,Gluck mommy!!!
