Hi I am travelling to UK next month with 1 year old, she is not a good chewer yet, so I will have to cook for her at the hotel. I am thinking of buying a rice cooker in US and taking with me, did anybody ever did this before? OR used something else for cooking, please let me know. I really need some information on this.
Thanks

well, if you buy a rice cooker in the usa and take it to the uk, it may not work as you expect it to. first off, the current is different... 120v (usa) vs 220v (uk). (you will need a transformer unless your rice cooker is adaptable to 220v) then the cycles are different. 60 cycles vs 50 cycles. (transformers can't help on this)(really made noticeable for music) then the plugs are different, too. might be easier & cheaper to purchase one there.

another suggestion might be to contact the hotel where you will be staying and asking if they can provide a rice maker for your stay so that you can prepare food for your baby. most hotels in the usa will provide refrigerators, microwaves, hotplates, blenders, etc, if asked. (actually, it seems like at least half already have them in the rooms, and the other half supply them upon request) perhaps it is the same in the uk, too.
good luck
