Health Issues:Hyperactive child

My child is so hyperactive, I just don't know what to do. He can't sit still for a minute. He will play with a toy for exactly 30 seconds before getting up and moving to another toy, and then within barely a minute run up to play with the car on the bunk bed. We are very concerned, can anybody please help us?

Another thing that might be bothering your children, as it did my youngest, is the chemicals that are in our household and personal products. Since I have changed to all natural products my youngest is actually able to color multiple pages in her coloring books, read books, etc. She is now 3 1/2 yrs old. Before she couldn't sit still. I couldn't keep out of things, or just to take a break.

i have a hyper 2 year old. but now i wonder if they are hyper or if we just dont have the energy for them. i give him only 1 toy to play at a time and hide all his other toys, dont go in for the expensive toys alone but use your imagination and buy him toys that he will love and sit with for a long time, like telephones that has many other activities. i was surprised when my son sat with his fishing rod dipping it in a bucket of water for hours and dosent touch his fisher price toys. take him outdoors a lot, especially to parks and let him tire himself out. meet some moms with similar age children and let them play together for a few hrs everyday. introduce him to looking at pictures in books (choose really interseting ones). see the difference sooon.

Hi shefali,
I agree to Heena as my nephew is also very hyperactive and he is under treatment from a psychatrist. I suggest u must chk with the doc. If treatment is required u must start it now.

Good luck

Hi,

My 3-yr old son is also very active, It is difficult to differentiate at this age between active and hyperactive. The children today have so much of stimulations that their attention span has decreased. Try avoiding giving him too many toys at a time, hide a few of them, or give them in rotations. Encourage him to take a walk with u or participate in an exercise program with u. These will channelise his energies, see if he sits still when u relate stories to him. These small things should do the trick.

My 3-yr. old daughter is also active all the time. She always doing some thing, she can't sit for a little time. Should I also assume her Hyperactive or it is due to her age - demand. How I should deal this activity - positively. Suggestions are welcome from readers.

One of my friend's sons was exactly like your son, with similar behavior. Her docto told her of a condition called ADHD or Attention Deficit Hyperactive Syndrome. You cannot cure it completely, but you can use some of the following methods to atleast control it. Don't let your child watch too much TV or play video games. So much is happening on the screen at the same time that the child is easily distracted. Try to spend time with your child by reading books to him...like pop-up books for example. They help increase the attentiuon span of the child. Ditto with Lego block. They also help in stimulating the child and at the same time keeping him busy. Also, do one activity at a time, or give him only one toy at a time. Good Luck!
