King Akbar asked numerous questions to Birbal which required witty answers. However, some questions could be answered only through another question. Read how Birbal answered King Akbar’s question with a question. One day emperor Akbar and Birbal were taking a walk in the royal garden. They were discussing various issues happening in the kingdom. While walking King Akbar asked Birbal a tricky question he said, “Birbal, tell me how many bangles your wife wears? Do you know?” “No your majesty, I do not know” replied Birbal. Akbar was surprised. He said, “How is that possible Birbal? You see your wife every day, she serves you food every day then how can you not notice how many bangles she wears? How is that?” Birbal heard what the King said and he told him to walk down the garden with him. He said, “Your Majesty let us walk down. I will tell you answer”. King Akbar and Birbal walked down the garden. They walked down a fleet of stairs which reached to the beautiful flower area in the garden. Birbal then turned to the king and asked, “Your majesty, can you tell me how many stairs are there in this staircase? You walk up and down these stairs daily. Tell me Sir.” Akbar grinned on Birbal’s intelligence and gave him 1000 gold coins.
