Finding Time for Yourself

Life is like a roller coaster ride for a working woman. She has to manage both her house and her job with equal ease. During such times feeling low or worn out is a common thing. Taking time out for yourself is the key to a happy "You". Read on to know hoe you can get some "Me" time.

Sometimes you come home from work tired and despondent, what with all the housework.  Here is how you can help yourself.

Analyse Yourself

First analyse how despondent it is you are feeling.  If you think you are in any way depressive, you must seek professional help.

However, if it is primarily tiredness and loneliness that you are feeling, it is time to do something for yourself.  We spend all our time worrying about either our children or our jobs.  We need to take the time off to make ourselves happy.

Get a Good Massage Done

A rejuvenating spa can do wonders for even the most tired among us.  Even a quick massage by a visiting massage "Bai" will help you iron out that weary feeling.  Do remember to eat the right foods.

Take a Short Break

A feeling of fatigue can also result from a never ending routine.  A break from this routine can really lift your spirits.  Pack your child off to a friend"s house or put him to sleep and indulge in whatever it is that you enjoy.  Exercise can reinvigorate like almost nothing else can.  Go for a run, dance, play a game, swim.  Your body and brain will both be refreshed.

Meet up with your friends.  Go out for a movie, or just an ice cream with them if you do not have too much time.  Keep in touch with them on the phone or by e-mail.  Even the smallest outing will banish your loneliness.

We always meet people when we are out.  Find time in your routine to do the things you enjoy on a regular basis.  You will make new friends at the gym, at the library at your pottery class.

Do Some De-Stressing Activities

In case the person you are missing is yourself, take some time out in the day, even if it is 15 minutes only, preferably in the morning (because you will be too tired in the evening) to go for a walk, practise yoga, listen to music, curl up with a good book, start your own blog, anything which catches your own fancy.  You can de stress by presenting your little one with a small bottle of cream and ask her to smother your feet with it.  It will be the best massage you will ever have!  Spend a little time to make yourself happy and your child will be happier for it.

Are you new in town and do not know too many people?  Are you at work during the day and with your child in the evenings?  Here is how you can get to know more people.

Socialise with People at Work

At work, you are probably meeting new people all the time.  Do make plans to meet up with those ones you like, after work, even if it is a quick cup of coffee.

Socialise with Non Working Mothers

You could probably use your evenings to develop a support network for yourself.  This is actually fun to do.  Some non working mothers enjoy this activity so much that it encompasses their whole day!  If you make friends with other mothers it can really help in many ways.  Mothering babies can become lonely and isolating.  Both mother and child benefit from a supportive environment of friends.  It is a network of play dates, hand-me-downs, parenting tips, lessons on sharing, reciprocal birthday parties...and the best part- it gives a mother a shoulder to cry on.

Your support network can happen anywhere - in the building, at the park, in play school.  Make the time in your busy schedule, perhaps on weekends, to make play dates with other children...with their mothers around.  You will find that us mothers are pretty good company!  Quite apart from that, mothers really understand each other better than most people can imagine.  We provide a great deal of support to one another.  Sometimes we are the only ones you can depend upon!

Join Hobby Classes

Then there is the rest of the world.  You can join book clubs, a gymnasium, learn a new language, cooking classes.  These are good ways to meet other people.  Remember, in whichever world you meet someone you would like to know better, do make plans to meet again.  Have some fun and you will be fun to be with.
