Muscle & Joint Pains, Hair & Skin Changes

Menopause manifests itself in form of different symptoms. Some women may have frequent muscle and joint pain. Other complaints of menopausal women are dry skin, brittle nails and loss of hair. These changes are due to loss of collagen.
Menopause causes a havoc of physical and emotional changes in women. Being aware of such changes can help women to deal with them effectively. Let us take a look at some of the common concerns of women related to muscle and joint pains and hair and skin changes during menopause.

Are muscle and joint pain also due to menopause?

Frequent muscle and joint pain may also have the same etiology. The role of collagen loss from the bone matrix in the etiology of postmenopausal osteoporosis may be of fundamental importance. Many women complain of pain in the joints, especially in the knees around the time of menopause.

How to deal with muscle and joint pain during menopause?

Although, exercising is good, if you are coping with muscle and joint pain due to menopause, you must avoid strain exerting exercises. You can opt for exercises like yoga and swimming which are better for improving the flexibility of your joints. If you are overweight, you must focus on weight loss.
Extra weight can also put a lot of strain on your muscles and joints and increase the discomfort. Taking care of your diet is also very important for muscle and joint pain. Including lot of vegetables and fruits in your diet can prove very helpful in reducing the discomfort. Having a balance diet is also equally important.
You may also ask your doctor to prescribe calcium and magnesium supplements which can help a lot in dealing with muscle and joint pain. Relaxing and gentle massage can also provide great relief for dealing with muscle and joint pain.

Does menopause also affect skin, nails and hair?

Women often complain of thin dry skin, brittle nails and loss of hair following menopause. It is wrong to assume that these observations are merely manifestations of female vanity because these subjective changes actually occur due to generalized loss of collagen. This loss of connective tissue is responsible for causing thin translucent inelastic skin in the older woman.

How to deal with changes in skin, nails and hair due to menopause?

Due to menopause hair becomes delicate than before. This problem is caused as a result of the drop in the estrogen levels. So, you must avoid blow-drying it or washing it frequently. Drinking plenty of water during this time will prove effective in keeping your skin and hair moisturised and supple. You can ask your doctor to prescribe certain hair care and skin care products that can help to deal with changes caused to your skin, nails and hair.

How to deal with menopause?

Every woman has to undergo the phase of menopause. Being aware of the changes that are going to occur during this phase can prove very useful in dealing with them. It is extremely important to follow a healthy lifestyle in order to cope with symptoms of menopause. Drinking plenty of water, eating a well balanced and healthy meal, getting proper sleep, exercising on regular basis are some of the important habits which women should follow during menopause.
The phase of menopause is very stressful for women. So, during this period, following stress management techniques become very crucial. Stress management techniques can like yoga and meditation can help a lot while dealing emotional problems and hormonal changes going on in the body. At the same time, taking supplements prescribed by doctor from time-to-time can prove very useful to deal with physical problems.

menopause in itself has its purpose which i assume is to prevent an older woman from having children and not living long enough to care for the child. apparently our bodies have not yet evolved to catch up with the longer life span.it is my opinion that the side effects of menopause are a freak of nature and that if this were to happen to the male population, every government would spend millions in research to prevent the devasting effects --some of which are never even discussed and no one knows exists until it happens. hair, skin, nails, and particulary changes not only of the vaginal area, but of the vulva as well. if the males sexual organs were to shrivel up by the age of 50, i repeat, there would be a world wide panic for prevention.

although not impossible, it would be extremely unlikely that you would be going through menopause at your age. there are other conditions that can cause excessive sweating. i suggest that you hav a word with your doctor, if only to put your mind at rest. all the best to you.
