5 Great Holiday Destinations in India

India has been naturally gifted with a wide range of holiday destinations. A rich cultural history and many architectural wonders make different cities in India must-sees. Different states of India offer their own specialities to tourists. But some stereotypes have developed when it comes to holiday destinations around India. We compiled a list of holiday destinations that are not as well-known as the others.

Let's take a look at some great holiday destinations.

Bandardhara

Sitting comfortably in the Sahyadri hills of Maharashtra, Bandardhara is ideal for those looking for an alternative to Lonavala and Mahabaleshwar, as these places have been done to death! This place is best visited during the monsoons but make sure you visit at the beginning or the end of the rainy season. Bandardhara is an ideal location for trekking and nature walks. Nearest station is Igatpuri.

Gokharna

Gokharna in Karnataka is the perfect getaway for those who have had enough of Goa. Gokharna has really beautiful beaches and is much more isolated and is perfect if you seek some peace and tranquility on your beach trip. Funny thing about Gokharna is that more foreign tourists know about it than Indians! There are also many private beaches at Gokharna, so make sure you find an awesome one there.

Munnar

Munnar in Kerala is one of the more beautiful hill stations in India. It has the raw appeal of Kodaikanal and the charm of Ooty. Beautiful mountains, deep valleys and many tea plantations and estates that you can explore, it is an ideal getaway for couples! A lot of families visit Munnar as well. You can go there in November or February for a truly rejuvenating experience.

Jim Corbett National Park

This is another one of those holiday destinations that sees more foreign tourists than Indian! The Jim Corbett National Park in Uttaranchal is ideal for those seeking an authentic trip to the wild. The resorts and lodges around the park have a very good reputation for offering guests a true experience of living in the jungle. Safaris and wildlife-spotting trips should make your stay here all the more enjoyable! Expect to see tigers, leopards, jackals and a whole lot of exotic birds and animals. Definitely try out this place someday!

Andaman and Nicobar Islands

The A&N islands are truly beautiful and are a must-visit for anyone who appreciates good beaches, history and lots and lots of fun! The Andaman and Nicobar islands are to the south of India and can be reached by air and by ship, and we definitely recommend the cruises! It can be a short and sweet cruise for you and the family. There are many places of historic importance on these islands and the towns have a charm of their own. Definitely put this place on your must-see list!
So these were some holiday destinations that you can try out in the future. Definitely try them out and tell us how it was!
