Significance of Money Games for Kids

Teaching children about money is an important aspect of parenting. Find out the significance of money games for teaching children the value of money.

Teaching young ones about counting and understanding money is a daunting task. In fact some people believe that one should not hand over money even for learning to small kids. Well, you  must learn how you can teach your child about money and math even when you are on your way to shopping or you are waiting outside a place for your turn.

Nowadays concept of teaching small kids is different from the traditional one. The teachers and parents are trying to help kids understand the basics while they are playing. One of the ways in which you can help your child understand and learn fundamental mathematics is with money. Just keep in mind that money is all around us and it is never too early to start educating your child about money and counting.

There are some ways to do brain teasing that you can apply when you are sitting idle with your child. For example, if you are waiting for a bus or train or feeling bored in a chilly day packed inside the house, you simply need to take out some change from your pocket and ask your child to count. Depending on her age you can also ask the total value of the money that she holds in her hands.

How to Engage Small Kids in Money Games?

Here is how you can engage small kids in money games.

Counting Coins

When you and your child are sitting together instead of watching TV, you can ask your child to have some fun. Take out some coins from your pocket and start counting. If your child is just learning the numbers, you can ask her to count how many numbers of coins are there in your hand. If she understands the value of the coins, you can ask her to count the total value of the money she has in her hands.

Asking About Ways to Utilize Money

Once your child answers you the questions, make sure he makes the right answer. Then you can ask her why you have the money with you. This will make her understand the value of money and how and when they are used.

Playing Memory Games

You can also take turns to play memory games with coins. Let your child say how much money you have in one of your hands and let her do the same thing for you. Always keep in mind if she will be the leader and asks questions to you, this means that she has understood exactly what you wanted to explain to her.

Above all, everything will happen while you were having fun with your child and the child will also enjoy spending quality time with you.
