Help your child live a happy and fulfilling life.  Here are top ten parenting skills which you can follow.

There is something so wonderful about being a parent. You just cannot stop gushing over your kids. You want your child to be smart and easy-going. Here are some amazing parenting skills which will make your child become successful. You will learn to share a better relationship with them.

Here is a list of top ten best parenting skills.

1. Become His or Her Best Friend

Become your child’s best friend and see for yourself the changes which take place. He or she will definitely start respecting you more when on seeing how you go the extra mile to do things for them. Children are not bad, it is just that they become difficult to handle when they are naughty.

2. Live, Love and Laugh

There is a famous quote which says “The family which eats together, stays together!” How true! Enjoy your mealtimes with them and cook food which will nourish your family. Enjoy dining table conversations and discuss about each-other’s day.

3. Do Not Be the Angry or Rude Parent Always

The parent who is always angry will rarely be happy. Hence, shed aside your anger and do not complain about minor issues. Small issues can be discussed without creating a big scene. Hence, do not magnify children’s mistakes without correcting yourself first.

4. Understand That They Will Need to be Alone

Just like how you need to spend time alone or with your friends, they too have needs. They too need their own life. Give them privacy without trying to find out every small detail about your child’s life. As long as they are being good, you can give them the life they always dreamt about. You cannot keep pushing them and forcing them especially when they start getting bigger.

5. Take Them Shopping

Just like parents, children also love shopping. Let them accompany you to the grocer, mall, or shopping centre. Whether it is buying vegetables and fruits or electronic items, they too should learn the art of bargaining and other simple facts like cost of products. Expose them to the outside world so they start learning the value of products.

6. Make Them Financially Smart

Teach your children to invest in money and its several uses. Whether it is for charity or personal use, children too should learn the basic details about finance so that they are not confused when they grow up and start earning. Make them aware about the various important details.

7. Give Them Your Blessings

In India, it is an age old tradition to respect elders by touching their feet. Whether they are young or old, many families especially in Northern India make it a point to do this. Hence try to keep the traditions and customs alive by following them and passing it down to the next generation. Always teach your son or daughter to help elders.

8. Do Not Drag Fights

Nowadays, we hear a lot of stories about children taking their parents to court or even suing them. While children need to be respected, you cannot help but wonder whether it makes sense to bring children into a world which is already so populated. Do not fight with kids however if they do not listen to you, then make peace and move on.

9. Move On and Let Go

Your children are not going to stay with you forever, so once they start getting older it is your turn to let them go. Be prepared to let them move out if they want to. After earning, some kids feel like separating from their parents. Thus, you cannot interfere with every detail as they too need to manage their career and life.

10. Spend Quality Time with Them

One of the most important parenting skills is to spend happy and quality time with children. Parents should not be with children just for the heck of it. They should know how to get involved fruitfully with their children. Telling stories, playing games and helping with studies are some of the ways to spend time with children in a fruitful way.

Children are also human beings with feelings. You cannot treat them like machines wanting to do everything for them. You have to do the best you can and let go of what is not under your control. Circumstances in life will keep changing and as a parent you need to adapt to the situation in your son or daughter’s life. You may have to sacrifice your own personal interests however it will be beneficial in the long run if your kid’s life turns out well. Be the best parent you can!
