10 Tips to Become a Fantastic Parent

Want to be a fantastic parent? Here are ten tips which will help you to be a fantastic parent and become a favourite among your kids.

Fantastic parenting is not so easy. Here are some important and easy tips to become a fantastic parent who is loved by his or her kids.

1. Do Not Be Over-Protective

Over-protective parenting is far more common than we think. Do not do every little thing for your kids. Encourage them to be independent. Let them learn from mistakes but be there to guide them. Let them work hard to achieve success and do not give everything ready-made. Give them age appropriate chores and responsibilities. Being over-protective can hamper self esteem and confidence of your kids.

2. Do Not Give-In to the Tantrums and Negative Behaviours

Some kids are very adamant. They want even that what is really not required. They start making faces and crying if they do not get what they want. Do not give room for such behaviour. Provide only what is good for them. Do not give in to every demand. Giving in every time will not help them to appreciate the things which you are providing for them. Do not tolerate tantrums and negative behaviour as kids can get more and more demanding as time passes.

3. Invest for Them

Parents should try and invest some money for the child’s future. Even a little money set aside every month can go a long way. Start with setting aside little bit every month for child’s future and you will be surprised to see how much of a difference it can make. The money can really grow at a very quick rate if you save and invest properly.

4. Educate Them

Sending your kids to a good school will help him or her to learn. It is not necessary that only kids who go to expensive schools do well in life. Parents who cannot afford to send kids to an expensive school can also help them to learn and do well in life. Schools should impart good teachings to children. Schools which are located near your house are a good choice. Ensure that the school has a good reputation as well.

5. Teach your Kids the Value of Money

Parents should always teach kids the value of money. Even if you belong to a well-to-do family and have a lot of money, you should still bring up children the right way. You must teach them the value of money and how to respect it. Avoid over-spending on kids. This can make them spoilt. Spend only when required and keep a tab on the amount of pocket-money you are providing every month.

6. Become Technologically Savvy

In today’s time, parents should become at least a little technologically savvy. Otherwise how will you help your kids to learn? Parents who know to operate internet and computers can help their kids with school-work. Becoming technologically savvy will help you to understand and guide your kids better. Knowing to operate various devices such as smart phones, cameras, etc can help you connect better with your kids and also stay in touch with them.

7. Teach Your Kids about Safety

Parents who teach their kids to be safe do not have to worry as much. Teach your kids safety tips online as well as on the road. Avoid sending them out with strange friends. Protect them from online predators. Let them share their fears and problems with you. Do not allow them to befriend strangers online and teach stranger safety measures to them. Teach them to be careful while posting images and private information on social media sites.

8. Interact with Teachers

Interact with your kid’s teachers every once in a while. Ask them about your child’s progress. Also try to interact with tuition teachers if you are sending your child to tuitions. Call up your child’s tuition teachers once in a while to discuss his or her progress. Avoid sending your child to too many tuition classes.

9. Be Traditional yet Modern

Be traditional yet modern at the same time. Parents who follow traditional values and keep up with modern trends at the same time are really to be appreciated. In today’s world, many parents have lost their traditional values. Teach your child the value of festivals and religious functions also. This will help your child to grow up with a sense of pride for traditions and cultures.

10. Prepare Them for a Good Future

Prepare your child for a good future. Allow them to pursue their hobbies and passions. Let their creativity grow. Take them for career counselling sessions after 10th class. Give them a chance to learn whatever they want. It is quite important to make them comfortable with using computers as in today’s world most jobs involve using computers.
The above tips will help your kids to like you a lot. Fantastic parents often end up with fantastic kids.

Giving complete independence to children is not going to work in the long run. To be a fantastic parent one must inculcate right values and discipline in them.
