At this point, they may realise that just because someone is older, doesnt mean they are wiser. And if you try and force them to believe that an older person is always right, you can be sure that your children will grow defiant, and will have less faith in your judgment. Old age can be a curse if you dont have the love and respect of your own children, grandchildren and, with life expectancy increasing, great-grandchildren. In addition, as everyone lives longer and longer, old age, presuming it begins at 80, can carry on for another 30 years, if not longer. The first thirty years of a persons life carries so much impact and importance, but the last thirty years almost seem to have grown stagnant. The love and respect of a persons children can make old age a wonderful time. Teach your kids that all elders wants is love and company. Chances are, they have a lot of knowledge and a lot of memories, and only want to share them with whoever has the time or inclination to listen to them. it is true that the presence of grandparents is a boon for growing children. however, from experience, i can say that it is even more important for adults to be extremely careful about what they say and the use of language. adults often say things, without realizing, that are offensive and at times demeaning about other people. it is of utmost importance that a child is kept away from this as in its formative years a child should not be taught rudeness. use of clean and clear language is a must. the child should learn that abusive language is a big no and should not be used. we should, as parents, teach our child to deal with the problem itself rather than criticize the source.
hi , i agree with the above article. if our culture and society has to flourish , we have to make sure we respect and help our elders. this does not mean only our aged relatives but to be kind to all elderly . also , if we ourselves cultivate this habit and patience , our children will learn the same behaviour.
