10 Things Your Child Never Wants to Hear You Say

10 Things Your Child Never Wants to Hear You Say
Children can get depressed, hurt and demotivated on hearing certain things from parents. Read on to learn about the 10 things your child never wants to hear you say.

Unfortunately, there are no hard and fast rules for parenting and this makes most of the parents opt for trial and error methods.
Parenting is not an easy job. It never was. Today, the children are facing difficult times and they have a very tough world outside. Your words can prepare your child to face everything in life with confidence and enthusiasm. Here are some phrases that you should erase from your dictionary completely because words carry more weight than you can imagine. After all you want your child to become a successful and content person after growing up.

Things Your Child Never Wants to Hear From You

Let us take a quick look at the 10 things your child never wants to hear you say.

1. “Leave me alone”

As a parent it becomes really difficult to imagine to have a break, but if you continuously brush off your child saying, leave me alone, they will think that talking to you has no point because you never have time for them. You might face communication gap when they are older.

2. “You are so mean/shy/stupid……”

If you label your child negatively it would make your child believe in it. Leave the adjectives and while addressing on specific behaviour try to figure out a solution for your child.

3. “Why can’t you be like your brother/sister?”

Comparing siblings on different points is the biggest mistakes most parents do. Remember this would undermine your little one’s confidence. Instead, encourage your child’s current achievements.

4. “Girls/boys don’t do this”

If you speak like this to your kid, you are stopping your kid from exploring something that he or she can excel in.

5. “You are a bad boy/girl”

This is an impulsive statement made to stop your child from acting up. But this sends a negative message and the children start thinking that they are bad. Instead, you can focus on the behaviour and point out to your child in a positive way.

6. “Stop crying right now”

If your child is hurt, there is no harm in crying or feeling sad. It is natural human behaviour and you should let your child express the actual feeling.

7. “You cannot do better ever”

Learning is a process that includes trial and errors. Your comment is neither productive nor supportive. Instead you should show how to work and say I would like if you do this way.

8. “Why can’t you do anything right”

It is possible that your child did it wrong. But if you give such a comment, he or she would be afraid of trying and this would hamper proper growth and development of your child.

9. “Stop or I’ll hit you”

In reality, threats are rarely effective. There are many ways in which you can motivate your child. Also, keep in mind that it takes time to grasp good behavioural suggestions.

10. “I will never forgive you”

These are very heavy words. Never use them especially for your kids. The child will think that whatever she has done will be remembered in negative way. Instead tell your child that what you did was wrong, but both of you should move on.
If you have an impulsive reaction to what your child did, take a deep breath and calm down before you speak. No matter what you say to your kid, if you stop and think before you speak, you will not hurt your child. Children are curious and active. So, speaking to them candidly about problems is always your best bet.

What kind of things should parents avoid saying to children? How to avoid hurting kids emotionally? What are the effects of labelling children and saying negative things to them? Discuss here.

Parents should definitely not say all these things to children because they will get depressed and hurt. This will create a very bad impact on their minds.
