Top 10 Things Parents Must Say to Their Kids

Top 10 Things Parents Must Say to Their Kids

Since self awareness begins at very early age, parents should learn the things that they can do and say to make their child feel great, happy or just to motivate him or her. Read on to learn about the 10 most important things that parents should always say to their kids.

As a parent you should always be careful what you say to your child. Kids are very sensitive especially to their parents’ words. No matter how little time is left with you after your long day’s busy schedule, you can still fill the time with realistic, simple and fun gestures and also say few things that would make your child feel great.
For decades experts tell parents that when they find their children doing good things, they should praise them. Even if their children did not succeed, they should praise their effort. There are many other things that if parents keep in mind and say to their kids, they can make them feel great and for positive reinforcement.

Top 10 Things Parents Should Always Say to Their Kids

Have quick look at the things which parents must always say to their kids to make them feel happy and develop a positive attitude in them.
  1. “I love you”

Many of you must say that this is an obvious thing, but every child needs to hear this every day. Make sure you show this from your expression and gestures also.
  2. “Thank you”

This is something we often forget using at home. Just keep in mind that gratitude is a great motivator. It not only makes them appreciated, but also helps you model manners and gratitude for them. Always explain why you are saying ‘thank you’ so that it has a powerful impact on your relationship.
  3. “Efforts never go in vain”

It is obvious that like other parents you too want your child to succeed. So, instead of demanding to increase level of performance, if you appreciate the effort of your child, he will learn how to do better.
  4. “I’m sorry”

Usually, many parents pose as if they are perfect and even if they find themselves wrong, they never admit or apologize. Instead if you acknowledge your mistake, they will also learn to do that and work to become a better person. This is a very important lesson for your kids.
  5. “I believe in you”

These words will show you exactly what the power of words is. Your relationship and your child’s self esteem will get stronger.
  6. “How was your day?”

Every day when your child comes home from school or from play, listen to him and everything that he did as well as went through. This will develop confidence in him.
  7. “Practice is how we learn”

This will support him in slip ups and downfall and he will not be upset at himself.
  8. “What will you like to do?”

If you want to have your children responsive, you should stop telling them what to do. Instead ask them what they think is right. They will start believing in themselves and feel happy and loved.
  9. “Let’s make bed or let’s cook together or let’s play together”

Children like to help around the house or will like you to play with them if they are bored. Spending time together will make them feel valued and will also improve the parent-child bonding.
  10. “Never give up”

Encourage your child to try things, face challenges and take risks. Make sure they do this taking their age in account which includes age appropriate activities and studies.
Although, most often experts ask to avoid both, praise and criticism, yet there are many things that if you say to your kids, they will like them to hear and will lead them to become resilient, balanced and happy kids. Above all, they will feel valued and this will strengthen your bonding, for sure.

How to make kids feel great about themselves? What things do kids like to hear from their parents? What things should parents always say to their kids? Discuss here.
