The preschool activities are designed in a way so that it results in a wholesome or a holistic development in the child. At the onset the activities are particularly focused on alleviating the nervousness in the kids. So in the initial sessions you will find most of the interactions dealing with fun cartoon characters or the kids are simply allowed to play with their favourite toys. After the little ones are easy in their new environment the formal activities gradually commence.

Activities Divided Into Themes

All the preschool activities are divided into interesting themes. The learning plans can be planned for a few days, weeks or months. They are usually divided into four prominent ones as follows–

1. Preschool Alphabet Activity

In this activity the students are presented with stripes where several fonts are displayed. They are placed over dotted lines and the children are taught to trace these dotted lines thereby leading them to effectively identify the alphabets.

2. Preschool Math Activity

In this activity plan, several shapes and figures are presented before the children. They are gradually introduced to the basic shapes like circle, square, rectangle and triangle. At a later stage figures and figurines are also introduced so as to teach them the concept of counting in a fun way.

3. Preschool Theme Activity

This activity is actually a collection of several themes like painting, art and paper work or gardening. The preschools vary in their choice of activities in this segment. For example, here they might be required to paste some paper colours into the shape of flowers or a house, make butterflies and build gardens with these colourful paper pieces. They can also be taught to use hand prints for their art work.

4. Preschool Kitchen Activity

In this section, the kids are introduced to some everyday fruits and vegetables. There are some preschools that teach the kids to make simple burgers and sandwiches. This is not only fun but interesting as well as they feel excited on being able to make a sandwich with their own hands!

The Art Activity

It enhances and develops the artistic faculties of the kid which eventually result in an all-round development of the child’s perceptive and analytical psyche. They are allowed to paint with colours and use their imagination to make anything that their heart wishes. Apart from drawing and painting this activity includes collage and clay modeling.

Music Lesson Activity

Here the preschooler is acquainted with simple musical instruments and are encouraged to make instruments with items that can be easily found at home. It brings out the creativity and imagination and helps them appreciate music. They are also introduced to musical alphabets and with the basic concept of pitch and percussion.

Science Lesson Activity

This begins with gardening and gradually the attribute to question the natural events that are occurring around and the mode of functioning of simple instruments or machines are instilled. It encourages inquisitiveness and the desire to learn more. They are taught logical reasoning and are also given a first-hand experience of building simple instruments like a telephone with two cups and a string or cable, which makes learning all the more fun. 

Young minds are very quick and dedicated learners. So it is important that you teach them the right things at the right time and in the right manner. The creative aspects of preschool activities result in the exploration of the imagination of the kid’s world thereby instilling motivation and self-confidence. Their motor skills get fine-tuned along with their intellectual faculties.
