Pregnancy diet is a diet that is specially planned keeping in mind the well being of the mother and the child. Everything has to be balanced and you also have to check out things at times.

Pregnancy Diet

Have a quick look at what should the diet of pregnant women include.

Vitamins and Minerals

If this is not covered through pregnancy diet, they are prescribed dietary supplements. However, increase in servings of fruits and vegetables daily help pregnant women keep fit and it also protects the child from certain typical birth defects also.

Water

Water is also an essential part that must be paid attention to. A pregnant woman must have at least 6 to 8 glasses of water daily, Just make sure that the water is filtered and clean.

Foods to Avoid During Pregnancy

Pregnant women should not consume the following food items for having a healthy pregnancy.

Junk Food

If you can avoid junk food completely, it is so well so good. However, if junk food is taken in moderate amount and casually, it is not a big issue. These food items should be avoided because they posses empty calories and do not have nutritional values in them.

Caffeine and Alcohol

Avoid excess coffee and alcohol intake. Remember, chocolates are also high in caffeine and so watch out the temptation as far as possible.

Fat

Excess fat intake should be avoided. This will not only make an issue of weight gain but also make the childbirth process difficult. Remember, all food items have fat in them and so you do not worry much about the fat intake and requirements of the body.

Food Additives

Many foods that we prefer and are tempted to are full of preservatives and things that are used to enhance flavours. These are not good for the proper development of the mother and fetus as well.

Keeping in mind the dos and don’ts during pregnancy, you can experiment and make food items interesting and tasty according to your preferences. Just keep in mind that you have to take a well balanced food and it is better to make a diet chart so that you can check out at regular intervals of time.

If you are working women, watch out and keep a track of what you have had the whole day. Just avoid staying without food or water for longer hours. If you are busy, you can have juice or something nutritious that can keep you going without making you feel tired. Feel good about yourself and try to stay away from stress as much as you can. Just avoid too much of coffee even if your profession demands that. Take care of yourself.
