Dealing with Stress and Frustration during Pregnancy


For a healthier pregnancy, it is better to take control of your pregnancy blues. Have a look at the tips to deal with stress and frustration during pregnancy.


Just because you are pregnant does not mean stress shall wither away from your life. It is absolutely normal to feel stressed even during pregnancy. The very fact that you should not get anxious and stay happy can become a cause for your concern!

While it is true that stressful activities increase chances of preterm labour, premature birth and even miscarriages, you should not let these factors bother you too much. Engage your mind in the kinds of activities your love to keep your mind diverted from the disturbing thoughts.

Here are some tips shared to help reduce stress especially when you are pregnant. Take a look:


1. Change Your Lifestyle

You need to keep in mind that you and only you have complete control over your life. Choose a kind of lifestyle that suits you now. Take up only the responsibilities that you think you can fulfil at ease. Your schedule should be one that is achievable, satisfying and sustainable.


2. Relax

Nothing should be more important than your pregnancy now. You can keep aside everything else and look forward to relax and enjoy. This is the time when you should allow your mental growth and get into some customised exercise plans under the supervision your doctor and a certified trainer.


3. Do Not Try to Control

Do not try to control everything around you. Many things shall appear out of control when you are pregnant. There is no point in getting into too much of commitments and then landing yourself in trouble. If your job is demanding, you need to talk about your priorities, so that the management can have reasonable expectations from you now. Do not hesitate to take break from your work, if things do not turn in your favour.


4. Listen to Your Doctor

While there may be too many suggestions from your friends and family, do remember to only follow what your caregiver suggests. This does not mean you should not listen to anyone, but make sure to trust your doctor. When you have to follow advice coming from one person who is a certified expert in this field, it becomes less confusing and easier for you as well.


5. Know About Pregnancy

Gathering information about pregnancy and what to expect shall lessen your stress a lot. Try to read as much as possible from trusted sources on pregnancy as well as on the emotional implications. This way you shall be less surprised by your disturbing or negative emotions.


6. Have Fun

Allow yourself to relax and do not feel guilty if you spend most of your time sleeping. Indulge yourself in activities like reading or watching a show on TV that you enjoy the most. This shall lessen your stress and keep you happy as well.


7. Adopt Relaxation Techniques

Adopt relaxation techniques like meditation under the supervision of a certified expert to reduce blood pressure, heart rate and hormonal levels and muscle tensions. Identifying your thoughts and talking to your own self shall also help you relax. Penning down your thoughts can be an excellent way to get rid of the inner conflicts and disturbances you are going through.

Life today is fast and can be complex at times. Just like nothing in this world is permanent, stress too shall pass away with time. Evaluating your stress and looking at the root causes can help you to enjoy your peace of mind. This shall in fact help you enjoy a healthier pregnancy and you too shall be a happy person.
