How to Deal With Morning Sickness

Morning sickness is common during pregnancy for most of the women. Morning sickness is normally observed during 2nd and 3rd month of pregnancy. Read on to find tips for dealing with morning sickness during pregnancy.

Pregnancy is a wonderful and exciting period in a woman’s life. However, it comes along with many discomforts and anxieties as well as full of hope, dreams and changes. Morning sickness is quite common in pregnant women and it can occur anytime of the day. Majority of the women have to face this discomfort of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. So, you should not worry as you are not the only one.

What you need to know is how to deal with morning sickness. You have to get through these trying times effectively and the information and support on dealing with morning sickness is provided here. Morning sickness makes some women sick throughout the day while some feel this during the evenings or mornings. Some even feel sick when they do not get enough sleep and rest.

Tips on Dealing with Morning Sickness

  • If you are a working woman and if the sickness is not letting you leave your bed, ditch work. Taking proper rest will make you feel much better.
  • Take high protein diet before you go to bed so that your blood sugar and energy level remains high and maintained.
  • Avoid the food items that trigger the feeling of nausea. If it is almost all food items, switch to fresh fruits and salad to start with.
  • Try to take small amount of foods. Make it small meals at quick intervals. Smaller and frequent eating can also help you keep your belly from stimulating.
  • Ginger and some cookies help prevent nausea. Try some citrus fruits as well. You can take high protein snack bar or peanut butter before rising from the bed.
  • Deep breathing also helps prevent the feeling of nausea. Sometimes the feeling also gets stimulated from mind.
  • Avoid remaining hungry. Hunger kindles the sensation of nausea and vomiting. If you remain hungry for long and then take any food, you might go through the same feeling.
  • Sleep to avoid unsettled stomach or nausea. Take proper rest and do not try hard to wake up.
  • Increase intake of Vitamin B6 which is in nuts, whole grains, peas, beans and seeds. However, if you are planning to take the supplement, consult your doctor first.
  • Ginger tea, ginger candy, ginger soda and ginger lollipops help prevent nausea.
  • Taking morning walk in open and fresh air will also help a lot. Reduce the intake of spicy and fatty food items.

Follow these tips and observe which one works better. Just keep in mind that morning sickness is common in pregnant women and it normally subsides within first 2 – 3 months. In some women this leads to mood swings and depression. There is nothing to worry about because plenty of hormonal changes go on during this period. Try to engage yourself in the things you like to do. Avoid stress and hassle as far as possible.

Take it easy and enjoy your pregnancy. If you can increase the intake of liquids and fluids it will be helpful for you and you will not feel sick or tired. It is good to manage morning sickness with the help of home remedies. However, if you find it difficult and if it is affecting your health, consult your doctor as soon as possible.

The best way to deal with morning sickness is to keep a piece of ginger handy. whenever you feel sick, just suck in the ginger slowly. the juice will ease the symptoms
