It's the day after and you didn't take any precautions last night. A month passes and you realise that this is it. You're pregnant. Can the abortion pill be an option?
Medical Abortion
In this method, a pill is taken to induce abortion. The medicine mifepristone, known as RU486 in the US, was introduced in France almost a decade ago, and the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) finally approved the "abortion pill" on 28th September, 2000 in the United States, after a decade of controversy.
Who can take the abortion pill
You may choose medical abortion if you are less than 49 days pregnant. If you have serious heart, liver, kidney problems, blood clotting disorders or HIV, you may not be able to take the medication.
How to take the pill
RU-486 can be taken at home or at a clinic. It opens the cervix, causes mild contractions, softens the uterus and causes it to dilate to help expel the embryo. Side effects like nausea, headache and weakness, and bleeding and deep cramps take place after the second, prostaglandin pill, is taken, a couple of days later. The embryo is expelled 4 to 24 hours later.
Side effects are normal, but you need to call your gynaec if you:
Soak more than two pads an hour, more than two hours in a row
Bleed heavily for more than 12 hours in a row
Pass clots larger than lemons for two hours or more
Run a temperature over 101.4° F for more than four hours
Feel strong nausea or throw up for more than four hours
Have an allergic reaction to the medicine
After studies were undertaken in developing nations like India, China and Cuba, which have legalized abortions, it was found that medical abortion was preferred to surgical abortion. The only complaint against medical abortion were the side effects and heavy bleeding.
Follow Up
You need to return a couple of days later to make sure the abortion is complete. The whole process may take about a week to 14 days, depending on the medication. If you are still pregnant after the medical abortion, you could take more medicine or may have to undergo a surgical abortion. Avoid alcohol, aspirin and anti-inflammatory painkillers during this period.
Is an Abortion Painful?
You'll be distinctly uncomfortable after a surgical abortion and may experience some cramping but it should not be very painful. A half an hour's rest in the recovery room and a painkiller should suffice. A medical abortion is more painful, but is preferred as it means avoiding a surgery. It's important you take care of yourself after an abortion, and report any feelings of discomfort and pain to your doctor.
Does the foetus feel pain?
At some stage during the pregnancy the foetus becomes capable of feeling pain but when exactly this happens is not known. It's a safe bet that the foetus may not feel pain before 10 to 12 weeks.
Risks
Incomplete Abortion occurs if part of the pregnancy tissue remains in the uterus after the abortion procedure. Symptoms include lack of post abortion bleeding and severe cramping. Infection can be caused by the retention of tissue in the uterus.
Hemorrhage or Excessive Bleeding can be caused by injury to the uterus during the abortion. Bleeding through more than one sanitary pad per hour indicates excessive bleeding.
Perforation or Injury to Uterus/Cervix occurs if an instrument used during the procedure injures the uterus or cervix. Injuries to the uterus heal by themselves but there is the risk of injuring other organs when perforation occurs.
Future Fertility can be adversely effected if complications such as injury to the cervix or fallopian tube arise during abortion. But if there are no complications, even several abortions have no effect on future fertility.

"god has made life sacred" (17:33) is declared in the quran(the muslim holy book ). it should not surprise us to find out that the title god chose for the first revelation of the quran was "the hanging embryo" (sura 96), not something else such as, creation, the sun, jesus, adam, or abraham. this hanging embryo stage starts about 6 days after fertilization when the embryo attaches to the inner lining of the uterus. this chapter swears by the creation of the human being from this tiny hanging embryo and the omnipotence of god. the choice of words for the title emphasizes the significance that god puts on this stage of human development.
knowledge about embryology is detailed in the quran to a level that had not previously been documented. to start with, the very first revelation from god to muhammad through the angel gabriel was literally entitled "the hanging embryo" (96). explaining in more detail "we create the human being from a certain kind of mud. subsequently, we reproduced him from a tiny drop that is placed into a well protected repository. then we developed the drop into a hanging (embryo), then developed the hanging (embryo) into a bite size (fetus), then created the bite-size (fetus) into bones, then covered the bones with flesh. we thus produced a new creature. most blessed is god, the best creator." (23:12-14).
if you are a muslim you should know that it is wrong to do abortion because the creator and owner of the little being is god so who are you to think that it is right to do abortion when god has stated clearly in the wholy quran that it is a sin.
"say,`come let me tell you what your lord has really prohibited for you: you shall not set up idols besides him. you shall honor your parents. you shall not kill your children (awlad) from fear of poverty. we ["we" is used in the quran when other entities like the angels have a role in the process, also "we" in arabic singular is used for someone of royal or glorified status] provide for you and for them. you shall not commit gross sins, obvious or hidden. you shall not kill any person - god has made life sacred - except in the course of justice. these are his commandments to you, that you may understand.’" from 6:151. this is emphasized again in sura 17 "you shall not kill any person - for god has made life sacred- except in the course of justice..."(17:33) and " you shall not kill your children due to fear of poverty. we provide for them, as well as for you. killing them is a gross offense" (17:31).
killing any person is strongly condemned in the quran, especially the killing of children which is specifically condemned in several chapters. the arabic word "awlad" is used in these references which translates to "born and unborn children". if god intended to only prohibit post-born children from being killed, then the word "mawlood" (born children) which is already in use in the quran would have substituted the other. but it is clear that preborn children are also to be protected from murder.

sex is not just dirty or a sin etc, it is instinct, and it is universal. even with protection there is always a chance of pregnancy, however; use protection and that chance will be a lot slimmer. if u or your girl becomes pregnant and know you are not ready for a child then it is okay to have an abortion. it is your right. i strongly believe in this because if you are not ready for a child, cuz a kid needs alot of care/love/devotion,then the kid will probably end up not-so-good due to that your responsibility to raise it has not been filled properly cuz u werent ready.shame on you. you brought a horrible being to this already filthy earth cuz u were irresponsible with your choice on abortion!but do not abort if not neccessary, but u need to grow up and mature before youre ready for such a responsebility.

abortion is a terrible thing. when i was 21 my parents wanted me to divorce my husband and i was pregnant. they casually took me to an abortion doctor and he pretended to do ana examination and then held me down with his nurses and forced the procedure on me. i was later in my pregnancy and he locked me in his clinic and did horrible things to me, he has been arrested. i saw the baby being taken out and still see the baby in my mind. late term pregnancies should be outlawed. they kick and move be then and my baby was active. now 10 years later i have a new baby and still feel guilt that i was unable to save my baby. there are abusive abortion doctors out there. this one was a real nazi. he took my baby and in front of me threw the baby head down into the garbage pail. i could hear the baby's head hitting the bottom of the garbage can. i don't blame myself too much becasue the doctor locked me in the clinic and would not let me use the phone to get help. this happened in the united states of america. so much for free choice and freedom. i was not given much of a choice. the usa needs to regulate some of these crazy doctors. they are making millions of dollars and will abuse patients to get what they want.
