Moms of newborns have to enter a very different life immediately after the childbirth. Looking after a newborn is quite an exhausting task so new moms do not get enough time to take rest especially in the first few months. But this cannot continue. New moms have to keep fit and healthy and right kind of diet is very important for them. They need extra energy to manage their changed daily routine. Some of the best energy boosting foods for new moms are given below.

Eggs

Eggs are complete foods and it is rich source of protein, Vitamin B and iron. Eggs can be cooked easily and tasty to eat so new moms must have eggs in their daily diet to remain energized throughout the day.

Milk

New moms must keep their body hydrated. Dehydration in the body makes them feel weak and exhausted. Milk can replenish the water loss of the body. It is also a rich source of calcium which new moms need badly. New moms must have at least two glasses of milk every day. Apart from having milk, drinking water in sufficient amount is very important to keep the body hydrated especially when they are breastfeeding.

Whole Grains

Whole grains are very good source of carbohydrates. Breads, chapattis and pastas made with whole grain can provide the required energy to the body of new moms so that they can take care of their babies without any problem.

Spinach

Spinach is a very good source of important vitamins and minerals that all new moms need. Spinach has low calorie but it has good amount of Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Vitamin K, manganese, magnesium, folate, Vitamin B6, riboflavin, Vitamin E, potassium and calcium. It also has rich fibre content that helps in keeping the digestive system clean. Spinach can be eaten raw, boiled, in salads or soups so it is must-have food item for new moms.

Oats

In some moms, diabetic condition developed during gestation period may continue even after the birth of the child. They must take foods that help them to keep their blood sugar level in control. Oats provide carbohydrates that help the new moms in getting required body energy and at the same time oats help in keeping the blood sugar levels within limit. Oats are also good for the working of brain. Oats are also good sources of fibre so it helps the new moms in better digestion. Oats help in reducing the blood cholesterol level too.

Almonds

In between meals, moms can have almonds as the best snacks option. Almonds help in boosting the energy level of the body and it is rich source of selenium too. Selenium helps in boosting the mood so new moms can handle their mood swings or postpartum depressions better.

Legumes

Being rich source of protein, iron and fibre, legumes of all types should be kept in the diet chart of new moms. When taken on regular basis, these legumes help the new moms to get the required oxygen for the body.

Oranges

Fruits are the best source of minerals and vitamins and new moms require these nutrients in abundance. Oranges must be kept in the regular diet of new moms as they are good source of Vitamin C and fibre. Rather than having fruit juice, eating oranges with pulps is recommended to get full benefit. Although, oranges are good, they are not available throughout the year.

Bananas

Bananas are rich with potassium, carbohydrates, and Vitamin B. Bananas are good for keeping blood sugar within level. Having bananas regularly will help new moms to prevent muscle stiffness.
