I totally agree that children take parents for granted if parents are polite. Especially the teens take parents for granted if parents are polite and do not behave strict with their children. When you allow your kids to behave how they want, the situation will go out of control and the stage will come where you would not be able to control your kid.

I agree with Kavya, It depends on each situation. Sometimes parents are required to be polite and sometimes they need to be strict. In case of disciplining children, parents should be quite strict with their children otherwise children will take them for granted. So according to what the situation demands parents should behave in that manner.
