People often think that puberty and adolescence refer to the same thing. However, they refer to two different aspects of growing up. While puberty covers the physical, adolescence deals with the mental aspects of growing up.

This is the worst fear of the new generation, specially the teenage girl. While the older generation looks at weight control from the health point of view, this is a worry that plagues the average teenager from a more cosmetic viewpoint.

Parents, speaking as adults who have forgotten the angst of their teenage years tend to discount the very real power of peer pressure. For teenagers, desperately trying to fit in, peer pressure is something that they find very difficult to withstand.

Parents have to realize that the world is a different place from the time when they were teenagers. In those days, a crush was just something you giggled over with your girlfriends or fantasized over silently. But today the rules have changed.
Depression
Adolescence is a stage of life when teenagers go through a period of uncertainty and confusion. Everything seems in a state of flux. Most teenagers emerge unscathed but there are others who just cannot cope and they fall into a depression.
Career Options
Standing at the crossroads of life, teenagers are plagued with one question: 'What do I want to do with my life?' Often parents impose their own ambitions and aspirations on the children confounding their confusion. All they need is vocational guidance from you, but for that you need to be aware of the career choices yourself.
Parent-Teen Relationships
By virtue of being a parent, you seem to have the duty to worry. And if your child has hit puberty, then it is God's grace if you still have a head full of black hair. Why is it that when children most require your advice, they shun it? Since despite all this behaviour, you still have to care for their well-being, keep working at your relationship.
Safety First
In a world where everything is moving at jet speed or just a click, it becomes important to be cautious. Inculcating a sense of personal safety is very important especially for the young and restless. Highlighting safety issues in the set of values that parents impart to kids can be a successful way to ensure that teens grow up to be responsible for their own and others lives too.
