India Parenting Newsletter Issue 2

Editor's Note

It's that time of the month again. No, no, not that! We mean
it's newsletter time :-). Since our last newsletter, the Indian
population has crossed the billion mark. Start using
contraceptives people!

Your favourite site is in the news again. Take a look at this
week's edition of Business World (Dated 6th September 1999).
Indiaparenting.com has been included in the cover story on
internet businesses.

Infertility treatment has received a shot in the arm with the
development of a new technology. The latest advance uses laser-
assisted hatching and blastocyst transfer, a dual technique which
involves implanting the embryo into the uterus at a relatively
advanced stage of cell development. To put it in plain English
- they use a laser to hatch the embryo from its shell. In a
blastocyst transfer, doctors wait for the embryo to mature to
a later stage before implanting it into the uterus. Thus, this
method allows them to harvest those embryos that have the best
chance of survival.

On a more humorous note, our Senior programmer Rajiv is
extremely embarrased at having been photographed unshaved and
without a tie for the latest article on Indiaparenting.com
which will appear in the next issue of New Woman. So keep an
eye out for him :-).
