parent. This will help you decode and find out the reason why your baby is
crying at the moment.
Reasons Your Baby is Crying
Have a quick look at the reasons
why babies cry.
- Hungry – Since you are a new
parent your infant might be crying because he is hungry. The baby grows
very quickly and perhaps he is hungry more often than you expected.
- Thirsty – May be your child is
feeling thirsty. Try feeding
him with some normal water. But this could be done only after consulting
the doctor so that you give him safe water to drink.
- Diaper – If the diaper is dirty or
wet, the child feels uncomfortable and cries. Check the diaper first.
- Something is Hurting – Cautiously
remove the dress of the infant and check whether any small insect or something
else is hurting him. May be the outfit you have put on the baby has a tag
that is irritating him or his finger is wrapped in some cloth.
- Tired – You must be surprised to
know but infants get tired lying on the bed most of the time. Give him a
thorough body massage
with baby oil and he will be fine. If it is time for bath, give him a warm
water bath after massage.
- Closeness – Sometimes all an
infant wants is to be held. May be he will stop crying as soon as you pick
him up.
- Too Hot or Too Cold – Babies cry
if they are feeling too hot or too cold. Most of the parents have the
tendency to overdress the infants. This causes discomfort and uneasiness.
- Need a Burp – Though burping
is not necessary but if you find that your child gets uncomfortable after
feeding, give him a burp so that he is relieved of the pressure.
- Colic – If your baby cries most of
the time and apart from doing all the checks you find everything fine, it
might be colic. You cannot do much about this and it will subside after
few months.
- Sick – Babies cry when they have
temperature, or a blocked nose. It is good to consult the pediatrician and
get medication as soon as possible.
The reasons and the soothing tips are going to help new
parents for majority of time. However, sometimes infants cry just to attract
the attention of their parents. Sometimes they cry without any reason also. So,
if you find that your child is crying just because of his temperament, try to
avoid the crying for sometime.
Most often crying for no apparent reason is a phase that
passes off in due course of time. So, relax and be assured that when your child
will start communicating in other ways, the crying will get reduced to a great
extent, hopefully. Once the child will start talking, the fussy crying will
stop. If you find coping with the situation difficult, ask help from your
husband and other family members.
