Show that you Care

Crying is a baby's way of communicating. Responding to the baby promptly will make the baby feel secure. Carrying the baby gives her a sense of physical closeness with her mother. Here is how you can show your baby that you care.

Provide Physical Contact

Sometimes babies cry simply because they miss the close contact with their mothers that they enjoyed for nine months. A recent U.S. study has shown that babies who were carried in the arms or in a baby carrier for at least three hours every day cried much less than those who were carried less. Carrying gives the baby a sense of physical closeness with the mother (a carryover from the days in the womb) and it may help the mother to tune in better to her baby's needs.

Respond Promptly

Crying is the only way a baby can communicate with the world around her. When you respond immediately to your baby's cry, you give her a sense of control over her surroundings and a feeling that she is important to you. There will be occasions when you feel that your prompt response has not made any difference. Your baby will continue crying no matter what you do.
Remember that not responding to your baby is not an option as you run the risk of her feeling powerless and worthless over time. Prompt response will eventually reduce crying. Some studies have shown that babies, whose mothers responded to them promptly in infancy, cried less as toddlers. The longer a baby cries, the longer it takes to stop her crying. This is because if the baby's cries are ignored, she will work herself up into a rage and probably forget what she was crying about in the first place.

Ways to Show that You Care

Here are few more ways which you can follow to improve your bonding with your baby and show that you care.

Talk to Your Baby

Talk to your baby continuously when she is awake. Talking will not only improve your bonding with her but also help her in speech development. Babies start talking early if their parents talk to them continuously. Talk to your baby while you are doing your chores. Talk to her when you are dressing her-up. Read story books to her. You can also sing songs to your baby.

Give Her a Massage

Massaging a baby is a good way to spend time with her. It also promotes her neurological development. While you massage your baby, let her experience the power of your magical touch. As per a research, a mother’s touch can stimulate healthy growth and development in babies and is beneficial for them in many ways. It can also help babies to get rid of stress. Massage your baby before giving her bath so that see can take a good nap after that.

Play with Your Baby

Playing with your baby is a good way to spend quality time with her. It will help to stimulate her brain development along with strengthening your bonding with her. Play simple games like peek-a-book, clapping hands, rolling her legs, moving toys in front of her, tickling her palms or fingers etc. But make sure that you are gentle while playing with her. You can play with her while bathing her. You can get tub toys to make bathing a fun experience for her.
Kissing, hugging, carrying the baby in a baby carrier with you, sleeping close to her, smiling at her are few more ways which can help to improving your bonding with her. It will also help her know that you care. Experts also suggest breastfeeding as one of the important ways of bonding with babies. Therefore, breast-feed your baby as much as you can to show that you care.

remember that crying is not necessarily a bad thing. babies need to cry to clear out their lungs.

singing talking and playing with the babby is very good as as noticed the earlier you start talking to the babby the sooner she will talk and bear in mind you should speak clearly as possible so as to develop the child,s speech

when my first baby was born he would cry and fuss a lot. i began to do things like rub his back or even perform a diaper change on him even though he didn't need one and usually that was enough to stop his crying.
