My son is 8 yrs old and does this baby talk thing probably because he was trying to be cute with his little sister and some of the kids were doing it at school. It's not only baby talk but talking more with a lazy tongue deliberately.

i discovered that my 5yr old grandson was very frightened by his mothers new partner when he shouted at him.when in the company of the partner he reverts back to baby talk, but when he comes for weekends at our house he is perfectly ok ,so this bears out what you say in your article.the hardest thing is knowing the best way too tackle this problem without making things worse for my grandson. his mother is very loving and protective of him which is one good thing bot he obviously feels he cannot confide in her over this, thankyou.
