Inculcating Good Manners in Children without Forcing Them

Inculcating Good Manners in Children without Forcing Them
Inculcating good manners in children is not possible if we force them to follow such manners. Let us take a look at some tips for inculcating good manners in children without forcing them.
Having good manners means acting with manners which are communally acceptable and dutiful. Outstanding manners will help to develop good relationship with all the surrounding people. Taking some effort to inculcate good manners in children would be training them to follow basic etiquettes.
Being polite in public place is always a good beginning and thereby, children can easily get hold of imbibing other good manners which would help them throughout their life. Usually, children are not immediate performers when manners are taught to them and they feel lazy or adamant to travel the right path pointed by the parents. In such case, parents must be very careful in treating them and they should make sure that they do not to force them at any point.

1. Train to Show Basic Courtesy

The words like “Thank you” and “Please” and “Sorry” play a major role in inculcating good manners. Few children feel uneasy or uncomfortable to say sorry, but it is mandatory to educate them as they must realize the importance of apologizing. Saying “Thank you” and “Please” is the best way to show the generosity to others and especially, when said by children it becomes more appreciable.
In addition, teach the word “Excuse me” when the child unintentionally knocks into some conversation, or if need to depart from a social gathering momentarily. But to make the children say these words is not a very easy task, especially when the child is adamant. In such cases, explain the significance of basic courtesy.

2. Encourage Polite Discussion

To have a smooth conversation and to end-up with a positive result, educate the children to speak politely. Enlighten the negative impacts of being cruel when talking to others. Let the children know that chatters, muddy jokes, or any curse words would hurt others feelings. Put forward a question “Will you be happy to hear someone shouting at you?”… The answer must be “No” as your child is also not willing to see a harsh response from anyone. Thus, without forcing the children, just put down an example to them and very easily the behaviour can be changed.

3. Motivate them to Appreciate Others

Make the children to understand the importance of appreciating others when a commendable job is done. This may be difficult for few children as they feel down or upset for missing out the opportunity of success. Still, it is good that they appreciate others to show their generosity. If the child is uneasy to inculcate this quality, it is parent’s duty to motivate them by praising them for each good deed they do. Simply forcing the child will not work out as they are very sensitive.

4. Teach them Road Etiquettes

Educate the child not to throw wastes and spit on roads. Tell them about the impacts of performing such dirty jobs while going out. It is not that easy to stop a kid from throwing the wastes on road as that is a casual thing for anyone. While eating or drinking, they feel so easy to throw the covers or any other waste items on road. In that case, show the dirty road condition, and explain the negative impacts. Follow clean and healthy habits at home so that your children follow these habits whenever they go out.

5. Stop Them from Intruding

None of the child should interfere in others privacy or others confidential matters. When the guests are arriving to house, usually the children are fond of taking their mobiles, handbags, purses, and wallets. Do not encourage the children to do such faulty jobs where the others may think bad about the child and parenting methods may be judged as wrong. To avoid interference by the child, clarify them that intruding may result in breaking any relationship.
Parents must find out a good way to explain the positive and negative impacts of every job that the child do. Simply forcing a kid will lead to a dangerous result and they become more stubborn on what they decide. Inculcating good manners in children, especially without forcing becomes difficult in one or the other stage. Still, the kids should not keep on behaving badly by taking things for granted.
How to inculcate good manners in children? Why do children behave badly sometimes? What are the ways to prevent bad behaviour in children? Discuss here.

If we want to make children follow good manners, we must teach them with love and not by putting pressure.

Forcing kids to do something can make them aggressive and irritated. Therefore, it is a must to teach manners to them calmly and with patience.
