Positive Ways to Inculcate Good Behaviour in Your Child

Raising a well-behaved and a well-mannered child is a dream of every parent, isn’t it? Here are some ways which you can follow to cultivate good behaviour in your child in a constructive manner.
Reprimanding children for bad behaviour is a traditional way of disciplining them. Don’t you follow the same style often? Don’t you immediately lose your cool on seeing your child’s misbehaviour? If yes, now it is the time for you to provide positive reinforcement to her. It is the time for you to follow positive ways to inculcate good behaviour in her. It is all about rewarding and giving importance to the good behaviour. Here are some constructive ways which you can adopt to cultivate good behaviour in your child.

Prevent Bad Behaviour Triggers

Keep your child away from the situations that can trigger bad behaviour. For example, if your child has a habit of demanding a lollipop while passing by a candy shop, avoid that route. If certain situations arise where you have to stop your child from doing something, analyze if it is really important to interfere.

Avoid Negative Feedback

Try to avoid talking negative about your child’s behaviour as much as you can. Negative feedback can give rise to negative feelings which can impact your child’s development. A positive feedback can help to avoid arguments and develop a positive attitude in your child.

Praise Good Behaviour

Instead of reprimanding your child frequently, it is important to point out good behaviour and praise her for the same. Praising your child can encourage her to exhibit good behaviour more often.

Give Clear Instructions

Tell your child clearly about the kind of behaviour that is expected from her. Giving shorter and fewer instructions can really help her imbibe good behaviour. Giving too many instructions can confuse and irritate her causing her to behave in a negative manner.

Avoid Putting Pressure

Do not be too strict with your child and put too much pressure on her. If you notice that she is following any bad habit or bad behaviour, correct her calmly. Tell the importance of quitting such behaviour or habit. Do not force her to change a particular behaviour instantly. Give her some time.

Be a Good Listener

Listen carefully and reciprocate positively to what your child is telling you. It will help your child express her feelings truly without any hesitation. When your child will be allowed to openly share her views and feelings, she can deal with stress and frustration very easily which can prevent the possible bad behaviour.

Prepare for Social Gatherings

When children are taken out on social events or gatherings, there is a possibility that they may do some mischief. So, to avoid such situations, prepare your child in advance. Tell her about the kind of behaviour that is expected from her when she is taken out on social gatherings.

Assign Age-Appropriate Chores

Assign age-appropriate chores to your child. Giving such chores to your child can definitely help develop a sense of responsibility in her. The feeling of being loved and important will also develop in her. Being responsible will make her behave less badly.

Never Break Promises

Do not make promises to your child that you won’t be able to keep. Always fulfil the promises. Breaking promises may trigger temper tantrums in her.

Be a Role Model

Be a good role model for your child. It is very important to practice what you preach instead of being a dictator. Behave the way you want your child to behave. Remember that your child is always watching you and her behaviour is a reflection of your behaviour.
Follow the above mentioned tips and be ready to see positive transformation in your child. You child will be what you want her to be. So, always follow positive parenting approach to infuse positive behaviour in your child.

What is the importance of following a positive parenting approach? How to inculcated good behaviour in children in a constructive way? What are the ways to avoid negative parenting habits? Discuss here.

I agree with you, children observe the behaviour of parents and they behave the same way.
