Trips to the market can be great fun with your child. Most super markets have these carts on which your child can ride and have fun while mom shops for essentials (lucky that all things are available under one roof). Its good to carry the pram when you need to walk distances. As a kid my memories of shopping include walking thru open markets, bargaining, and carrying lots of handbags along with my mom dearest. Ofcourse cannot forget the comics (amar chitra katha's) i was rewarded by her on the way.

Yes, it really helps. Plus u can allow them to touch the fruits and vegetables. They are very excited to see and touch the things they have been seeing in the books.
