A Christmas Carol

Why is Christmas celebrated?

The story goes that Jesus Christ was the son of God. He was sent by our heavenly father to deliver us from all evil and grant us salvation. He was born to Joseph and Mary, a humble Jewish couple, in a lowly stable, on the 25th of December. We thus celebrate Christmas on this day.

Christ lived a very humble and simple life, and tried to spread the message of God, which was the message of love. He was crucified on the cross by people who did not understand his gospel. Yet Jesus heart remained the same. He looked up to the heavens as he was on the cross and spoke to his father thus: Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.

How is Christmas celebrated?

On this day, in the western world particularly, places wear a new look. Streets and homes are brightly decorated. Santa Claus comes out into the street and distributes presents to the poor. The Evergreen tree is synonymous with Christmas, and these trees are put up in every house, and gaily decorated. Families have a great feast and exchange presents. The day before Christmas is known as Christmas Eve. Children hang stockings by the fireplace on Christmas Eve, and it is believed that at midnight Santa will come down the chimney and fill up the stockings with presents! On this day and the next, people go to church and sing Christmas carols in praise of Jesus Christ. Here are the words of some Christmas Carols which your kids are sure to love.

Ruldoph the Red Nosed Reindeer

Rudolph the red nosed reindeer,
Had a very shiny nose,
And if you ever saw it,
You would even say it glowed.

All of the other reindeer,
Used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Rudolph,
Join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve
"Rudolph with your nose so bright,
Santa came to say:
Won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then all the reindeer loved him,
As they shouted out with glee:
"Rudoph the Red Nose Reindeer,
You'll go down in history!"

Santa Claus Is Coming to Town

You better watch out
You better not cry
Better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town

He's making a list
And checking it twice;
Gonna find out Who's naughty and nice
Santa Claus is coming to town

He sees you when you're sleeping
He knows when you're awake
He knows if you've been bad or good
So be good for goodness sake!
O! You better watch out!
You better not cry
Better not pout
I'm telling you why
Santa Claus is coming to town

Deck the halls

Deck the halls with boughs of holly
Fa la la la la la la la la
'Tis the season to be jolly,
Fa la la la la la la la la
Don we now our gay apparel,
Fa la la la la la la la la
Troll the ancient Yuletide carol,
Fa la la la la la la la la.

Fast away the old year passes,
Fa la la la la la la la la
Hail the new, ye lads and lasses, Fa la la la la la la la la
Sing we joyous all together,
Fa la la la la la la la la
Heedless of the wind and weather,
Fa la la la la la la la la.
