Health Benefits of Garlic for Kids

It is aid that if a person eats a bit of garlic every day; they are going to be immune against the common cold and other viral diseases. One of contents of garlic is allicin which is the reason garlic has such medicinal qualities.

Garlic has a pungent smell and is therefore avoided by many, especially kids. Kids do not like to eat garlic at all. However, recently it has been suggested by child specialists that garlic is extremely beneficial for kids. It can make your kid immune to many diseases and also provide nutrients to their bodies.

It is a good idea to give a little bit of garlic to your child daily. Garlic has many health benefits for your child. But please make sure that your consult a paediatrician before including it in your child’s diet.


1. A Cure for Cough and Cold


Garlic can be very helpful to cure your child of cough and cold. Garlic has curing properties that can easily cure your child of cough and cold. Cough and cold is something children get all the time. It is not healthy to keep feeding them store bought medicines. A natural cure is much healthier, especially one that is found so easily.

Even elders take garlic in their soup if they have cough and cold. If you see your child having symptoms of cough and cold keep feeding them on to two cloves of garlic every day. You can feed them garlic cloves during winter and monsoon months to prevent them from getting cough and cold.


2. Intestinal Problems


Kids often get intestinal problems. They are small and are not always aware of what they are eating. Kids also put their fingers in their mouth without washing it. Many kids from their infancy suffer from diseases like diarrhoea.

Colitis is a very common disease among children. The bacteria often enter through the random objects they put in their mouth. A lot of kids suffer from dysentery because of what they unconsciously eat. These diseases can heavily tax the health of your little one. You are also very scared of feeding them the medicines that contain chemical.

Garlic is the most effective alternative. Garlic is a hundred percent natural and does not affect your kid’s health at all. Garlic very effectively kills all the bacteria that are causing the intestinal problems.


3. Infected Wounds


Kids will play and do mischief. You cannot possibly guard them all the time. Most of the time, parents are worried about their kids playing in the dirty places and getting hurt. A lot of times the wounds get seriously infected.

Infected wounds can be mortally harmful, especially if your child cut himself on an iron object. The wounds that get infected are the favourite haunts of many harmful bacteria that can lead to other diseases. Instead of using the chemical medicines, put some dilutes garlic juice on the infected wound. It will effectively disinfect the skin.


4. Asthma


A lot of children suffer from asthma from their very childhood. Garlic is extremely helpful; for curing asthma in kids. It can help your kid breathe better. If your kid suffers from asthma try to feed them garlic every day.


5. Earache


Earaches are pretty common in kids. They get it a lot in winter. You might not always have medicines handy to soothe the ear ache when your child is having it. In that case, mix some garlic in oil and massage your child’s ear gently. It soothes the pain.
Garlic is a handy thing to have in a house with kids. Make it a habit of your kid’s to eat garlic every day. It helps prevent several diseases.

Garlic can be used in many recipes for children. It can be used in dal while giving tadka. It can also be used in some vegetable recipes. It is an easier way to include garlic in their diet.
