Is staying slim as well as healthy possible? Yes it is. Are you wondering how? Read on, to know how you can stay thin and fit?


Sanjna's day starts with a glass of water followed by light exercise and jogging. She never skips her breakfast. Her breakfast consists of a brown bread, a boiled egg or an omelet, a glass of fresh fruit juice and a bowl of nuts. She consumes three meals through out the day. She always carries a lunchbox to the office. Handful of salad, vegetables and rotis constitute her lunchbox.

On the other hand Samira is always in hurry. Many times she misses out her breakfast. She does not have any exercise routine. She calls for a taxi even if the destined place is at close at hand. She frequently pops into the new fast food joint with her college friends and polishes off burgers and chips followed by a coke. Her time to have a lunch or dinner is never fixed.

Comparing the daily schedule of Sanjna and Samira, it is clear that Sanjna is leading a far healthier life than Samira. Samira will definitely end up adding extra pounds and inviting health hazards. To top that research says that lifestyle diseases are getting bigger than AIDS and other serious disorders. A few modifications in your lifestyle can help you stay healthy as well as slim. Find what you can do to look and be slim and trim always.


Control your food cravings

Is it necessary to slurp a cola or buy large popcorn with extra butter in the movie interval? Is it necessary to have french fries with burgers every time? Is it unavoidable to crunch potato chips every time while watching TV? Are food cravings impossible to avoid? Tell yourself that 'I can do it'. You have to overcome your food cravings to maintain your body without going comprising on your health.

Food can be a great companion in both sorrows and joys. Most of us long for something to munch on when we feel blue. On the other hand, no celebration can be enjoyed without food. Check yourself whenever you find yourself filling your plate with noodles, pasta, kebabs, rice and all possible stuffs you come across at wedding? Controlling your food craving helps maintain your desired weight.


Maintain well-balanced diet

What is a balanced diet? You need not go on a crash diet like beauties of the tinsel town do. Staying thin has nothing to do with being size zero. A healthy balanced diet is enough to stay fit and thin at the same time. Avoid eating processed food. An ideal balanced diet has appropriate amount of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, salts and fibers that can keep you strong, healthy and thin. Cut out on extra oil, ghee, butter and cream. If you do indulge in a burger do not ask for extra cheese or mayonnaise.

Eating healthy not only helps to maintain weight but also prevents from life threatening diseases such as heart ailments and cancers. A balanced meal should have food items from all main food groups which are breads and cereals, fruits and vegetable, meat and sea food, milk and dairy products and sugar. Maintaining a balanced diet is nothing but eating an adequate amount of food from each of the food groups.


Avoid junk food and sodas

Abandon junk food and aerated drinks. Omitting burgers and colas from your life will do a lot of good. Junk food is high on fat, salt and sugar. You may enjoy gulping icy cold soda in the summer afternoon but are you aware of the aftermath onyour health ? Carbonated soft drink is the most popular aerated drink in the western countries. Today youngsters are addicted to soft drinks and other carbonated beverages. Switch to coconut water, butter milk or fresh lime juice instead.

Being a junk food junkie will gradually go on adding unwanted calories to your body, thus inviting health troubles. Maintaining a slender posture is not possible unless you understand that junk food is not good for you. Fast food corners do profits as they satisfy your taste buds but they are doing no good toyour health.


Never skip breakfast

Experts say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. What happens when you skip breakfast? The glucose stored in your blood which produces energy in the form of glycogen may get low. If you skip breakfast you will go short on glycogen by midday, thus getting exhausted. Skipping breakfast may ruin your entire day. You may suffer minor headaches and irritation. Skipping breakfast will eventually add extra calories to your body as you will end up binge eating more in the middle of the day.


Exercise regularly

There is no escape from regular exercise. Adding regular workout sessions in your daily schedule will take you towards your desirable weight faster. A simple exercise like brisk walking can change the way you feel about your health. 30 minutes of brisk walking daily is the best way to stay thin. Keeping the record of your calorie intake will be helpful to maintain your weight. Apart from walking, jogging, skipping, cycling, swimming, dancing and power yoga are some exercises that can be enjoyable as well as are good for burning calories. Wear your shoes and run your way towards health.


Tips to stay thin and healthy

Losing weight has to do more with what you eat rather than how much you eat? Intake of junk food in low quantity can harm your body but eating lots of fruits will only have good effects on your health. Following tips will be helpful to stay healthy and thin.

  • Switch to brown bread or whole wheat bread instead of white bread

  • Start your lunch or dinner with a bowl of low calorie soup. So that you will not overeat later

  • Avoid eating in front of television. You tend to eat more without your knowledge

  • Reduce the intake of white food stuffs from your diet such as rice, sugar and salt

  • Drink plenty of water. Drinking eight glasses of water is said to be healthy

  • Instead of two large meals start eating three small meals a day
