Home theatre systems are all the rage nowadays. Everyone wants to establish a home theatre system and experience that cinema effect in the comfort of his own home. Although pre-assembled theatre systems are widely available, many people still prefer to select each component. This provides an individual with more options rather than being restricted to a single brand. However, there are still some guidelines to consider while buying the different components.
The Speakers
In olden days, powerful speakers were huge, box-like parts, which required at least three people to lift up. This is largely an optional component though many people choose to have it to make their home theatre system appear complete. A subwoofer is a speaker, which is designed specially to emit sounds that are of a very low frequency. These are the sounds present in music and videos that are otherwise not captured by the other speakers. As with speakers, the right subwoofer for your home will depend on the home theatre room. The Audio and Video Players
A home theatre system will require at least a DVD player, to act as a source component. Modern DVD players are also capable of playing audio and video CDs, and audio in MP3 format. Check the DVD player for its up scaling capabilities. This will ensure that the DVD player is able to render images so that they can be viewed on a high definition television screen.
Some people prefer to opt for a separate CD player as well. This may be because traditional CD players deliver better sound when it comes to audio CDs. An added bonus in a home theatre system is a DVD recorder. This is the modern equivalent of the VCR. You can use the recorder to record video straight from the TV onto a blank DVD.
The Surge Protector
The surge protector is also known as a spike guard. All of your home theatre components are quite expensive and you want to protect them from being destroyed. Here, a surge protector comes in handy. A surge protector is a small switchboard like object to which the plugs of all your home theatre system's components are attached.
A surge protector is equipped to deal with sudden fluctuations in voltage, while the home theatre system is running. It also performs the herculean task of safeguarding your equipment when there is a sudden power failure. Having a surge protector does not guarantee your expensive home theatre components will never be affected but it does minimise the chances of them being burnt out.
