Question Phobia of sounds, and odd behaviour

My son Siddharth who is 11 yrs old and studying in 6th std is having lot of behaviour problems in School as well as at Home.
He has been very sensitive since childhood.

He has a Phobia for sounds. for example: Cracker sounds, Lorry horns, Engine horn sounds etc.
He automatically keeps his hands over his ears while walking on Roads or in a Railway station.
We have taken him to a ENT SPECIALIST and his audiogram is fine and excellent.

He is too sensitive that he starts crying for petty things and this has made other children make fun of him and make him cry.
He gets tensed always when he misses his things such as Pen or I Card or any of his books which may be lying nearby him but he cannot locate them easily which we do because he lacks patience and in the process makes us also Tense in the busy mornings.

His teachers also have complained to us of the same problem at school. Academically he was very good till last year, but now his marks during the 1st unit test have come down drastically and he has failed in 2 subjects. Though the teachers say that it is ok , as other students have also performed in the same way, but we are really upset with his current performance.
We are really in a fix.

Someone please give us some suggestions to deal with it.

Unhappy take him to see a psychiatrist

Hi.. If his problem is not medical...Then i think you really need to take him to a psychiatrist to get the root of his phobia.

Something has to be messing his mind up. Maybe a childhood trauma or insecurity. Take action now, otherwise it may become too much to deal with once he grows older and gets used to his phobias.

Also u can ask the psychiatrist to suggest some behavioural expert to teach your child some social skills. That will also help him deal with his phobias.

    All the best!

From where did his fear of sounds originate. Fears are a normal part of growing up. I think that due to his fear of sounds, he has difficulty in paying attention in class. He may also be having other problems due to this fear such as difficulty in falling asleep. Try to make a note of all his problems and you need to consult a doctor for him. A decreased tolerance for noise is sometimes indicative of another condition. A simple noise phobia is easy to treat, but if concurrent disorders are present, all conditions should be treated simultaneously.

I think that it's really difficult for you to live with this and if you are ready to find a solution, then you should seek professional help. There are now many psychotherapists who provide online counseling. For example, I've read a lot of good reviews about this specialist https://www.mindwell.biz/ . I think that the sooner you start therapy, the sooner you can get rid of your phobia.
