The first thing for a healthy pregnancy is to choose a good doctor. It is better to consult a gynecologist as soon as pregnancy is confirmed. Eating healthy becomes very important now as it helps in proper development of the baby.
A balanced diet with 5 portion of fruits and vegetables daily is recommended. Whole grain products are helpful as they contain fiber which prevent constipation. Including protein in form of meat or pulses and nuts is also important. Sometimes supplements may be prescribed by the doctor and these should be taken.

Regular exercises keeps fitness levels high and hygiene should be maintained in pregnancy to prevent infections.

Caffeinated products, alcohol and smoking should be avoided. Above all this proper rest is needed so that the body is able to heal and nourish the growing baby.

Hi all it is very important to visit a doctor or a midwife as soon as you come to know that you are pregnant. The doctor will organise a routine health check-up and advice you what should be done during the pregnancy from the start. They will also schedule plenty of test and scans for you.

Hello sometimes in pregnancy it is difficult to eat as it causes sickness or nausea, there is a substitute for this as pregnancy vitamin supplement which can help in the intake of vitamins. The vitamin contains folic acid which is good for the baby as it makes bones stronger and reduces the risk of having neural tube defect such as spina bifida and many more.

Hi I would like to inform all the pregnant women that it is not safe to eat all food during the pregnancy. Some foods can cause risks and are not safe for the baby’s health. Foods like unpasteurised milk, blue-viened cheeses, ready to cook meals or any type of pate should be avoided and not consumed during pregnancy. A bacteria called as listeria causes listeriosis which causes birth complications and should be avoided.

It also helps in a smooth delivery and keeps the mother and baby both fit and stress free. Regular exercising like brisk walking, yoga, swimming can be done on a regular basis.

The exercising also helps in firming the pelvic muscles which become weak after the extra pressure on them. They also support the vagina, bladder and back portion. The hormones released during pregnancy makes the muscles slack a bit. Therefore it is necessary to exercise for muscle strength.

The doctors strictly say no to alcohol as it reaches to the baby through the placenta and blood veins. It is said that alcohol is not safe to drink during pregnancy as it is dangerous for the baby. Pregnant moms who have a habit of drinking on a regular basis have chances of delivery a baby with FASD meaning fetal alcohol birth defect.

Hello all it is important for all the pregnant women to avoid energy drinks, tea, coffee and aerated drinks. Intake of too much caffeine leads to the risk of having miscarriages. Too much intake of caffeine also increases the risk of having a low-birth-weight baby. There are safer alternatives like fruit juices, decaffeinated tea and coffee.
