    Foods Rich in Folic Acid for Pregnant Women

    Which foods are the rich sources of folic acid or folate? How much folic acid is required by a pregnant woman daily? Is it necessary to have folic acid supplement if pregnant woman consumes foods rich in folic acid?

    During pregnancy, folic acid is needed for proper fetal development. Folic acid rich foods are lentils and beans. Spinach is also a good source of folic acid. Fish is good source of folic acid for non vegetarians

    Folic acid is extremely important and essential for the body during pregnancy. Folic acid helps in functioning of DNA synthesis and repair, nucleotide biosynthesis in cells, prevents anemia and also helps in formation of the red blood cells. Folic acid is commonly known for vitamin B9.

    Hi, the benefits of folic acid are that it helps in prevention of several diseases like Alzheimer’s disease, fetal deformities and various types of cancer. There are many foods which are rich in folic acid. Folic acid and folate have different metabolism effects.

    Hi all, folate is available in the natural form of vitamin B9 like in animals and plant foods. Folic acid is the synthetic form of vitamin found in fortified foods and supplements.The body more readily accepts folate and regulates healthy levels by releasing excess through urine.
