Hi! The Chorionic villus sampling (CVS) is a pregnancy test which is done to check the infants genetic and biochemical abnormality. The cells of the baby and placenta are same so a small sample of the placenta is taken using a needle which is inserted from the abdomen region.

This is a very important test particularly done to check the whether the fetus has abnormalities or genetic disorders like Down syndrome or cystic fibrosis. This test is absolutely safe and secure, mostly done in between the 10th and 19th week of pregnancy.

Hello I support the Chorionic Villus sampling test which should be done by all the pregnant ladies who are above the age of 37 years old as the babies of mothers with more age have a risk of defects and abnormalities. The women having a family history of disorders should also do this test. The women who also has a child with abnormalities should do this test for safety.

These tests are very helpful to diagnose the abnormalities like Down syndrome, Turner syndrome, Trisomy 18 and Trisomy 13. Several genetic disorders like cystic fibrosis, Tay-Sachs and sickle cell disease can also be detected by this Chorionic Villus Sampling test.

In the Chorionic Villus Sampling test a blood screening test is done in the second trimester of the pregnancy, which helps in detecting the risk of neural tube defect. There is no risk while doing this test at all like miscarriages and all. There is 1% chance of miscarriage in a total of 100%.

There are some possible side effects which might take place after the test of CVS like light headedness, sometimes the mother might feel abdominal discomfort, slight chances of getting an infection or might get the pain which feels same like menstrual cramps. Sometimes the amniotic sac of some ladies is ruptured, which is quite rare though. All the doctors are well trained and cautious about the test.

Hello everyone you can visit an authorised clinic or visit a good hospital where is it safe and hygienic for the test. The test does not take more than ten minutes. The placenta sample is then sent to the laboratory for detection. You can get your test results in a week or twos time.

There are two types of Chorionic Villus Sampling tests namely Vaginal Chorionic Villus sampling where a needle is pushed through the cervix and the sample of placenta is taken. The other procedure is the Amniocentesis in which the amniotic fluid is removed using a needle through the abdomen.
