The Cord Blood Banking has a debate in the medical community. The reason being that the private stem cell banks are higher in cost and the chances of the family to use them are quite low.

The stem cell banks in India are quite expensive and not everyone can afford it. The stem cells are worth preserving if your family has a history of diseases like lymphomas, thalassaemia, leukaemia, aplastic anaemia or immune deficiency disorders. Then the preserving of the stem cells are worth and you can think about affording it.

Hi all, the majority of doctors suggest to go for the public stem cell banks, but it is important that the stem cell cord is preserved privately if you have a medical history in your family. If you have a child who needs a stem cell transfusion then you can go for it.

You can talk to your doctor if your child is at risk then what should be done, he will guide you based on the history of your family and you can make a decision after that. In India mostly the stem cell cord transplants have be done from unknown sources which are donated n the public banks and not private banks.

The stem cell donations from the families have been used to treat inherited blood diseases like thalassaemia. Stem cell banks have now been famous in India and is becoming popular day by day. There are two types of banking facility available to preserve the stem cells like the public donor banks and the private banks.

Hi all, the public donor are a good option for those parents who cannot afford the high fees of the private banks. In these banks the parents can donate the stem cells of the baby without any charge and anybody can use it. Here the stem cells are not stored for a specific person or a family whoever requires it gets it when matched.

Hello, the private donor banks preserve the stem cells particularly for the child or the sibling or any family member. This is the reason the private banks are expensive in cost and these stem cells preserved are called as biological insurance.
