Getting rid of stage fear

How to get rid of stage fear? My kid becomes dumb struck when he comes on stage but at home he speaks quite well. I want to get rid of his stage fear.

Stage fear is common in all kids and also many adults. It is said to get rid of fear, one must face the same. So if you have stage fright, then you should take part in more public speaking. Gradually you will be able to overcome the stage fear. I never had a stage fright as I was always active on stage; be it poem recitation, debates, extempore and so on.

This is the question I have been thinking of asking. i get some unknown fear when I m on the stage I feel that every one would laugh at me when i say something on the mike. So i would also like some tips so that I can get rid of my stage fright. My friend suggested me to practice in front of mirror and I tried this but this did not work for me.
