    Short height....not growing

    My son has been the shortest boy in his class since he was a kid. Though his height has increased but still he is the shortest boy. He is now in class 5. Does this mean that he has some growth problems> Do I need to check with a doctor?

    Height of a child depends on his parent’s height. If both the parents are tall then he will be tall unless there are some health issues. You may be unduly concerned for his height, he may be normal. Moreover boys suddenly gain height during and before puberty. So just wait and watch.

    Hi, short height has always been as concern for every parent because every parent wishes that his or her child should be tall and have a good personality. But remember there is no secret that will increase your child’s height overnight. Please do not follow those advertisements and commercials which you see in the TV and newspaper. All the things they claim are fake and can cause some hazardous effect on the body. Even eating drugs or different tablets can cause serious physical complications. Increasing height in kids can be done by some good exercising and eating good food which will help in natural growth.

    Hello, my daughter is really very short she studies in the 9th standard but is still very short compared to the other children in her class. She always has to stand first everywhere. Then I started giving her a good balanced diet which could help in the natural growth of her height. Firstly I cut out on her junk food and started adding all the healthy things which are also beneficial for her health along with the growth of her height. I allowed her to eat all the things in moderation but did not allow her to eat too much of carbohydrates.

    It is seen that exercising and stretching help in the increase of the height, but I would like to recommend you to put your child for yoga classes as yoga is extremely beneficial for the overall body and helps to stabilize mentally and physically both. This has been proved as the best technique to increase the height in children. Performing surya namaskar daily can be really helpful and you can see the difference quite early. There are various other asanas like trikonasana, talasana, adhomukha savasana and sukhansana all these yoga postures help in the increase of height as well as benefitting various other parts of the body.

    I would love to suggest stretching for increasing the height of your child. It is considered to be the best exercise for increasing height. This is a very easy and simple technique to increase height. You can tell your child to practise the toe touching, standing on the toes, stretching their hands straight up and various other stretching exercises which are really useful. Also drinking milk daily is very important as from milk your child can receive calcium on daily basis which is required for the growth of the bones. Receiving all the nutrients when required can help in the normal growth of the height properly.

    I agree with you completely, it is very necessary to have at least two glasses of milk daily. Adding more dairy products to your consumption can help in increase the height. Eating paneer, cheese, yoghurt and many other things can be beneficial. There are also genetic factors which affect the growth of the height. Genes from both sides of the family are considered and if someone is short then the child can be short. It is not necessarily the parent’s height which should be taken under consideration. Drinking plenty of fresh water throughout the day can also help in increase of the height by flushing out all the toxins and having a proper metabolism.
