During first few days the baby passes a greenish stool which is known as meconium. It is made up of mucus, amniotic fluid, and everything your baby has ingested while in womb. Gradually her stools will become normal as she starts breastfeeding.

In the first few weeks, the baby passes stools after every feed. Average will be about 4 per day. This will settle down and her bowels will work out their own routine. Some breastfed babies may pass motions once every few days or even once a week. This is not a problem as long as your baby passes easily.

Bottle fed babies stool are different. they are firm and pass less frequently. They also have a smell unlike breastfeed babies.
