    ideal weight gain

It is difficult to determine how many calories you should gain because caloric needs are different for everybody. The rule of the thumb will be as long you are putting on steadily and adequately by following a healthy diet then you are on the right track.Gaining weight is a normal part of pregnancy, that this is suppose to happen and don't waste time brooding over weight issues at this point.

    weight gain in pregnancy

Please do not be concerned too much with your weight. The number of kilos you pile on during your pregnant months will depend on your BMI before you became pregnant and also on the number of babies you are expecting. Despite the weight recommendations, it can become difficult to control pregnancy weight gain. Therefore a woman with normal weight and follows a balanced diet can let her appetite be her guide.

how much weight to gain in pregnancy

The extra weight tends to occur in the second and third trimesters, not so much in the first trimester. During the first three months aim for an increase of about 100 calories per day in a woman who started pregnancy at a healthy weight. During the next three months or the middle trimester an increase to 250 calories on a daily basis is recommended while in the final trimester an extra 300 calories per day is recommended. These are just guidelines but may vary in women.

Hi all the beginning of the pregnancy should be with a good healthy weight. The entire pregnancy and delivery will be more comfortable of you gain a healthy amount of weight including your weight before the pregnancy. Gaining appropriate amount of weight is important as gaining too less weight will make it hard for the baby to grow properly and gaining too much weight will make it difficult during the delivery time and the labour will take longer.

It is important to find your BMI which means Body Mass Index during the pregnancy. BMI is calculated through the weight and height of the women. BMI tells the amount of fat the body has and is also used for screening of weight for several other categories.

Some women start gaining weight early and easily, but some don’t gain enough weight which is required for the development of the baby. There are various reasons for a women to not gain weight like morning sickness, she might be having body issues, metabolism problems, appetite loss or any other medical reason. It is quite risker if the mother does not gain enough weight required and can cause complications in the pregnancy.

Hi all moms who gain less weight during their pregnancy tend to deliver babies which are small or are born before the due date. The mother has suffers from restrictions in the growth of the uterus. Some women have trouble putting on weight in the early weeks, infact some women even lose weight. The lack of weight or gaining does not affect the growth of the baby as the requirements of the baby are very less.

In the second trimester of your pregnancy if you don’t gain enough weight which is required, your baby will lack in nutrition and growth as in this period the baby grows bigger and the requirements also increase. Hence it is necessary for the mother to eat healthy and match up to the needs of the baby.

The BMI of healthy weight should be approximately between 18.5 to 24.9. If your weight before pregnancy was healthy then you should gain between 10 to 15 kilogram of weight. Gaining weight slowly according to the weeks in the pregnancy is good for the optimal growth of the baby.

The BMI is considered underweight if it is below 18.5 and if you are underweight for you height then you should gain atleast 28 to 40 pounds of weight. The BMI is considered to be overweight if it is 25 to 29.9, and if you were overweight then you should gain only 15 to 25 pounds of weight.

It is necessary to have a healthy diet during pregnancy and with the help of your doctor get a right program for exercising. Remember you are eating for your baby as well that doesn’t mean you should eat double, just eat right and proper.
