After delivery, contraception is not required for sometime but in no manner breastfeeding can be taken as a sure shot way of preventing pregnancy. Breast feeding mothers do not conceive usually 2-3 months after delivery but if period starts, then they are at a risk of conceiving. After 6 months, it is better to go for a contraceptive after consulting a gynecologist.
