Kids need a whole range of nutrients specially vitamins and minerals. They are at a growing stage so need all the nutrients in a balanced amount. Vit. A, B vitamins, vit. C and vit. D are all needed by kids for a healthy body. I feel that kids should have a healthy diet rather than taking supplements. Supplements should be given only in case of deficiency.

Calcium and vitamin D are most needed by kids as they are in a growing stage. Dietary sources are better utilized by the body than supplements, and these can come from calcium-fortified foods such as green vegetables as broccoli. kids should optimize calcium balance by avoiding sodas and caffeine. they should get regular exercise to stimulate the body to build up their bones.

I think the vitamin supplement that kids need most is vitamin D. Vitamin D is critical for healthy bones and it is also important for our immune system, muscle strength, heart health and likely other body systems as well. Our modern lives take place largely inside, and we use sunscreen diligently to prevent skin cancer. This lifestyle may keep us from getting enough of this important vitamin. Very few foods naturally contain vitamin D so supplements are needed.

Hi, according to me if your child is eating right then there is no need of giving vitamin supplements to your kid. There are some children who have worse case and do not have proper intake of nutrients need to take the vitamin supplements to avoid any kind of deficiency. There are some parents who think that having vitamin supplement in the child’s intake should be daily. I personally feel that it is better to take advise from the doctor and with his consult only take those supplements if required. But I feel that children should not be given such vitamin supplements unless extremely necessary.

I agree with you children who have proper intake of food regularly do not require such vitamin supplements for their growth. When a child has regular balanced diet he or she does not at all requires to take those supplements. As the human body is incapable of producing sufficient amount of vitamins and minerals, the requirement has to be fulfilled through a healthy balanced diet.A balanced diet contains sufficient amount of vitamins and minerals along with providing adequate quantity of proteins, fat and carbohydrate. All these things should be included in the balance diet due to which the nutritional needs are fulfilled.

A general balanced diet should include fresh dairy products like cheese, milk and milk products such as yogurt, fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables. The proteins requirement by the body is fulfilled by eating fish, meat, chicken and eggs. You can also give your child whole grains like oats, brown rice and brow bread. Intake of Vitamin A can help in normal growth and development of your kid. It also helps in making your child’s eyes healthy, get healthy skin and strengthen immune system. It can be found in milk and milk products, eggs and colorful vegetables.

There are several reasons why parents start giving their children vitamin supplements. There can be reasons like not eating adequate amount of food, kids who do not eat healthy food regularly, kids who intake lot of carbonated soda, kids who eat a lot of fast food, children who lack proper nutrition in food, kids with continual health problems, kids who are on heavy medication, kids who are on vegetarian diet and children who are involved in physically active sports. All these can be the reasons for the intake of vitamin supplements in kids.

There are essential vitamins required by the body like vitamin B, B2, B3, B6, B12 and vitamin C, vitamin D. The vitamin C is found in citrus fruits, tomatoes, green vegetables, kiwi and strawberries. It helps make skin and muscles healthier as well as have proper growth. Although the best source of Vitamin D is sunlight, it can also be obtained by including milk and milk products, egg yolk and fish oil in diet of your kid. This vitamin helps promote bone and teeth formation and also helps the body absorb calcium present in the food properly.
