I feel doing anything with kids is a good idea. Kids look forward to their parents and want to spend time with them. So if time is a constraint, it is better to take time out doing simple things such as cooking. Being with parents is the best learning experience for kids. Cooking together can be a great bonding time for both the kid and the parent. Food cooked by kid will be most probably liked by him and he will eat it happily.

With both parents working, there is hardly any family time. Most parents strive to be financially secure than emotionally. I feel with little planning, we can spend time with family. Try to have a ritual that you can do as a family such as having a meal together, or bedtime stories. Having funny moments by doing crazy things is also a great idea.
