Rice kannjee and ‘water, salt and sugar solution’ are the best way for the treating diarrhoea and dehydration. This helps to prevent dehydration and also help rehydrate the child.
Rice kanjee is made by cooking a handful of rice powder with water for 10 minutes to make a thin liquid. To this, add one level teaspoon of salt and water is added and made to 1 litre. This is very effective
When the baby is suffering from diarrhoea, you must give salt, sugar and water solution as they loose essential salts from the body along with water. Also make sure to give easy to digest foods. Never feed complex cereals or baby foods during this time. Give home-cooked foods like soft rice, banana, porridge and boiled apple.
