Summer is here and the scorching heat is making kids feel thirsty. While water remains the best drink, it is also nice for kids to enjoy some refreshing drinks this summer. You can make these drinks at home or buy them outside. Everywhere people are complaining about the heat and surely your kids need some hydration.

Here are a few drinks for your kids to enjoy this summer


Coconut Water

This is an excellent thirst quencher and is easily available in India. Costing you around forty to fifty rupees, coconut water is a refreshing summer drink which boosts the immune system and keeps your child healthy. This low calorie beverage contains electrolytes and minerals which will nourish your child. It prevents dehydration and can be had by toddlers also. This energizing liquid is sweet to taste and ideal for all age groups. It will boost your children’s immune system.


Lemonade

Lemonade is a citrusy drink for the summer which is refreshing and energizing. Loaded with Vitamin C, this beverage prevents colds and flu. You can add sugar or salt to make it tasty. Kids all around the world love lemonade. Adding soda makes it fizzier. Just add some cumin powder and rock salt to lemon water and watch your kids gulp it down. Just buy some lemons and squeeze them to make this delicious drink. This classic summer drink is very satisfying for the stomach.


Sugarcane Juice

Sugarcane juice need not be unhygienic from any point of view. A lot of people associate roadside stalls with sugarcane juice and hesitate to give their children this drink. However, did you know you can make sugarcane juice at home itself instead of buying it from outside? Just buy some fresh sugarcane, make small pieces of it and crush it at home in your blender. Then pour the blended juice through a strainer. You can add rock salt, ginger and ice cubes while making. This drink tastes best when chilled. Watch your children gulp down glasses within minutes.


Rose Milkshake or Lassi

Rose milkshake is a delicious drink which will make your child drool. This drink with its super cooling effect is ideal for summer. You can buy readymade rose syrup from the shop. Just mix some milk or curd and prepare this interesting drink. You can add some sabja seeds to rose milk to make it an ideal summer beverage. It is very easy to make and can be bottled for use later on. Add some vanilla ice-cream and nuts so your children enjoy it even more. Rose syrup is very easily available in the shops nowadays unlike earlier times.


Buttermilk or Chaas

Buttermilk or Chaas is a common summertime drink in India. You can really relish a glass of buttermilk by adding coriander, cumin powder and some ripe green chillies. Just take some yoghurt, water and add these ingredients to the mixture. You can use your blender and prepare this drink within few minutes. It aids in digestion and helps in weight loss as well. Many households in North India consider their meal incomplete without a glass of buttermilk at the end. It is great for overall health.

Thus, there are several drinks available to quench your child’s thirst this summer. Some packed and readymade juices are available in the shops as well. Fruit juices with real pulp are a great source of energy and nutrition. Over-weight kids can be given beverages with less sugar or without it. Just head home this summer and prepare these drinks for your child to drink. His or her health is very important. Keep your child constantly hydrated and let him or her drink plenty of water along with other fluids.
